SoD2 on Win 7 ???
So i just bought a digital copy and redeemed it thru redeem.microsoft.com
It was added to my account and it said ti would be automatically downloaded to my xbox live. But i dont own an Xbox thats why i bought a Windows version....

Is there a way to download this game somehow so i can play it ? I know it says windows 10 but according to the FAQ on SoD webpage it looks like it should be available on Win 7 too but without Xbox Play.

"I have windows 7 can I play with my friends on Xbox?
Unfortunately no. In order to utilize Xbox-Play anywhere you will need a Windows 10 PC

For the Play Anywhere feature to work do I need to have an Xbox One in order to play on PC?

You don’t need an Xbox to play the Win10 PC version of the game. If you buy the digital edition from the Windows 10 Microsoft Store you will have access to the game on your PC, and you will also have a license to play the game on Xbox One. Additionally, if you buy a digital copy of the Xbox One version of the game, you will have the license to play on Windows 10 PC. Play Anywhere is for digital orders only and will not work on disc titles. Learn more at https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/xbox-play-anywhere"

No. SoD2 do not work with any windows version below windows 10. The minimum requirement are windows 10 for pc use.
The answer are in the text you posted.

You do not need to own console Xbox One to play on PC. This confuses a lot of people.
Windows 10 use a program name Xbox, it works about the same way as Steam program does in many aspects

Well thats my point, the FAQ kind of states it works with Win 7. And if you google it you can easily download a cracked version and play on Windows 7.
The problem though is if you buy it you cant download it because it goes straight into your Xbox Live account and without the Xbox live app on your Win 10 youll never get to download it..
.
But if they gave you a download link instead to download and install the game there would be no issues at all, but i guess its just clearly a stunt from Microsoft to force people to upgrade to their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Win 10 os...

That FAQ on the SoD page is just misleading because it kind of hints that you can use it on Windows 7 but wont be able to crossplay with people on Xbox and thats my point... :\ But i emailed Undead Labs and waiting for a response there, if not ill just grab a cracked version i guess.

you can refund your game i think it's tough ms support. if i was you i had done that and explained i have windows 7 and your (game info) are very confusing what is what.
you prolly have 0 hours gameplay on it, i can not see why you would not get refund.

Personally i have so far no problem with ms or ms store or undead labs. even if i can relate to certain aspects of ms settings are weird, but it does not hinder me from playing games.

You do know that windows 10 was made to collect all kinds of information from you?
When it came out it was 100% free because of this.

This is WHY (some) people crack games. They dont want to deal with the BS that some games like to come with or restrict you to. I'll be damned if im installing windows 10 or going to microsoft store.

Undeadlabs are just begging for this game to be cracked so those that know not to install windows 10 can still play the game.

Besides the OP has legally bought the game (or sounds like it atlest) from the ligit microsoft store. He now owns the game and can alter it any way they wish legally (as long as its not distrabuted to others).

If that is true, then Microsoft must have an entire datacenter dedicated to my porn habits.

it doesn't matter how you try to flip the coin. it is still not legal to break a contract or steal.
it is no point to try and argue with me. i'm not going down that row.

as for "owning" digital game/s. You are so wrong. You only own the right to play the game (you own a license) what you really are doing when you buy a digital game are, what i call:
one-time rent payment.
i can explain further about this if you prefer that.

Sorry i was away for 2 days for work, but yes i did buy the game and i did receive a cd key.
But the problem is after i did i never received an option to download the game unless i upgrade to Windows 10 which is out of the question.

I dont simply like the app solution and i think it belongs to tablets and phones and not my PC.
But thats my opinion, i just never liked it and never will...

They could easily just have given you the cd key and a link for downloading the "client" where you would have to register with cd key and make an account or use the account you already have.
I have bought digital copies before and they have always given you a download link to download the game without forcing you to go thru the Xbox live app, thats my problem...

And like i said i cant see a reason for them to write the cross play wont work in win 7 if it wasnt supose to be able to run on Windows 7. Thats like saying in a car ad "Buy this car but the wheels thats included dosnt fit this model, so youll have to buy another set of wheels to actually drive it". :\

I think you were reading very hopefully into the FAQ. For most of us, it's been incredibly clear that the game is a Windows-10-only release. In taking your interpretation from that single place in the FAQ in which Windows 7 is mentioned, you ignore the 9 other places the FAQ mentions "Windows 10" specifically, and even in the same question that you quote, it says, a little further on, "you will have the license to play on Windows 10 PC".

Yes, likely their FAQ could be more clear. And yes, I understand hoping something to be true so hard that I "read between the lines" to arrive at the interpretation I'd prefer. But anywhere you go, all anything says is that SoD2 is Win10 only, and it is.

I really do not understand why anyone without windows 10 would buy state of decay 2, it is clearly written on the MS store what the requirements are to play it .

Firstly: There is no PC edition, the only edition is a play anywhere title, which is a Xbox edition.

Secondly : The digital download is still an Xbox edition , but without a console it is the only edition that will work on a windows 10 PC.

Thirdly: MS rarely give refunds, plus when buying the digital version, it clearly states that once you hit the buy button , there is no refund as MS determines that you know what you are buying, as in all requirements are met even with your PC.

If there is to be a PC edition of SoD2 Undead Labs will announce it, my advise is follow them on Twitter . MS announced they have bought Undead Labs at E3 2018. Even though MS now own UL's the devs have been hinting at a PC edition of SoD2 since late 2016 , If or when this happens it might be still a Windows 10 game, there has been no update on any of this as they still refuse to comment on it.

If anyone needs to know about SoD2 and the requirements to play the game, here is a link to the UL's FAQ's page
https://undeadlabs.com/faq-state-of-decay-2/

All Window versions since internet on demand era , are spyware related not just Windows 10. You still have options not to allow MS to spy on you in PC settings. The only thing I sign into is the Xbox app when playing SoD2 then I sign out when finished.

It might not be legal to break a contract or steal, but:

A) Piracy isn't the same as stealing.
B) If the contract was incorrect in the first place, it's void, ergo, you're not breaking anything.

As for your earlier comment of "this is why companies go to extremes to protect what is theirs":

- Ever thought about the fact that THEY themselves make it so people are forced to pick one of two options, with one being piracy? Perhaps if you got of your high horse of "anti-piracy" for two seconds, you'd notice.

Yeah actually. I'm "for real."
An incorrect contract is void because it's, well, incorrect and thus misleading.
What part of my previous comment are you struggling with understanding?
KOOLLAYDTAC Jan 30, 2019 @ 1:26pm
I am curious. What cracked version did you guys see that you can play on Windows 7? I looked around when I was surfing the torrent sites one day when I was bored because I was curious about how large the game was in comparison to the original and one thing I did notice is all of them are Windows 10 because you need DX12 to play the game. You guys might want to make sure at what your looking at is actually the real deal when you download it. I am just saying. Do what ya want. :steamfacepalm:
Crokite Jan 30, 2019 @ 2:21pm
almost correct. you need minimal DX11 to run SoD2
