SOD2 - Can't Move Home Base
(Yes, I'm using SOD forums because there is no "dedicated" SOD2 forums....at all.)

So...I can't figure out how to move my base over. I'm in the Valley, and the base I want to move to is the Squelones Brewing Company. The only thing is there's already an enclave here, called the Grunts. They're not physically on the map, (compared to others where you can actually click on them and see their name) but they are here, as if these guys come as a bonus if I move here. I can talk to them, but all I can do is trade, learn about them, and enlist one of them as a follower, though I can't do that because my relationship isn't high enough.

My first instinct was the game has a mechanic where overtime an enclave can move in to one of the places your own community can move to, and I do have the option to "threaten" the enclave.

But I've read several guides about how to move in to the base, and none of them ever talk about enclaves already taking one over as being a possible obstacle. All they say is that I need to kill all the zombies around, and then go to "the icon" as it says to take it over. (I'm assuming it's the same or similar to making an outpost.)

But I don't get that icon, anywhere. The top left of the screen says "Home site can be claimed" but I don't have any icon anywhere. I have the Influence, and I have the required amount of survivors.

I"ve even read another guide about what happens if you threaten an enclave, and the obvious result of them being hostile was talked about, as well as rumors of you being a ♥♥♥♥. Of course, no mention as this being an unfortunante choice to make should I want a base already being taken over.

So, I'm afraid I'm stuck. None of the guides I read (or the game, as little info it gives already) tell me about whether or not I need to force the current enclave out or not. (It's not like the enclave set up shop well either, I'm seeing outlines of lots everywhere as if it was previewing it for me.)

EDIT: Ok, I can seee where the icon "should" be in this video at 8:10. But instead, I have locker that I can use.

Anyone? This doesn't seem limited to the Brewery now, I can't even take over the Police Station, there's one Enclave member there. I can't even threaten them anymore. Hurting them does nothing, they don't care or die.

You know we all want it on Steam, and wait for it's release. Sorry.
wait, they dont put the game on steam, and they offer no forum support? LOL Hope they enjoy lost sales

Yes, was kind of hoping that the few people that DO have it that are using the forums to ask other questions, you know, since there ARE no other forums to use, would have the answer.

Doesn't matter anyway, I found out the simple answer is "yes, they can take them over if you take too long" as after going through three bases I finally found one that I could actually take over. Wish the game would not say "Home site can be claimed" when it actually cant, and the threaten option didn't go away.

But that base sucked so I said ♥♥♥♥ it and started over. Seems the game throws you much better loot when you skip the tutorial cause it thinks it's your second game. Knowing how the game works now compared to the first I'm progressing much faster and can probably nab the better bases first. It's no wonder there's 20+ bases now.

Yes, using the "Skip Tutorial" is the best way to start the game. You get to reroll characters until you get what you like and you get to "pause" the game in the beginning. If you follow through the quest line by using the Cell Tower, search for materials and deliver them, you'll get your first call for help by an enclave wanting 3 plague samples. In order to "pause" the game, do not go to that enclave. Do not even approach it. Avoid it like... well, like the plague. Until you speak to that first enclave and get your first quest from them, the game is in a kind of hold status. You are immune to help requests (no side whiners begging for anything and everything), you are immune to accidental loss of resources at your home site, and the enclaves that are on the map do nothing but sit there (unless they're hostile, then they'll shoot at you). You can explore the entire map using cell tower/billboard views, collect any and all loot you want, and you can prepare your way to upgrading without fear of anyone moving in. Once all your prep is complete and you're ready to move to your new home, answer that first call for help. You should already have 3 plague cures. Finish it and things begin to move in the game world. When you answer that enclave's second call for help and get them to "Allied" status, go there and recruit one of them. This gives you another survivor and also breaks up the enclave, meaning one less incompetent group of survivors you have to hand-hold through the apocalypse. Win-win. Answer some of the other calls for help to get more survivors (usually 1 of every 3 missions gives you a recruitable survivor) until you reach your goal for your new home. You should already have an abundance of extra materials inside vehicles parked near your first home because you diligently collected up before starting the game, right? You should be able to recruit 8 survivors (the max you'll ever need) in the first hour or two tops. Then it's all about influence but if you took time to explore, you'll have a bunch of luxury items and facility mods you won't need. Trade at every enclave you can and with any wandering trader that appears. I spent 4 hours after "starting" the game by answering that first call and I had enough influence for a water tower, power substation, and the ball field in the valley map (3,500 influence/8 survivors).

My friend and I found a way to get rid of enclave squatters on a base we wanted, but it's not pretty. Basically we drove around beeping our cars and attracting hordes of zombies into their base. We noticed the enclave members' health went down after each attack. Four or five attacks later and all of the enclave members were dead, making the base availiable for our group.

I have the same problem, i can't take the whitney base, cause when i go where im supossed to claim the place, there's just storage. And there is no other enclave there, the place is free of zombies also, i'm really stucked and not sure if its a glitch or what.

I had 1 person occupying the brewery I wanted as a base, I chose threaten enclave and he went hostile and I killed him then could claim base, but my community members complained saying something about it's wrong. Still got the base. I think they need to fix this, enclaves should not be able to occupy bases that players can claim. As they are able to claim houses, sheds and everything else we can't.

Not engaging that first enclave does prevent radial missions but it only lasts until you exit game. Once you continue game radial missions will begin whether you've talked to that first enclave or not. Still, the momentary pause allows time to get your self situated before feeling overwhelmed.
