ppl that want to get into tabletop rpgs but cant do to gather up and set time, set up, needing game master and multiple rule/sourcebooks then this is their go to. all yo uned to do is own the game, msg pals to party up, do few quests with scenarios and done.
its kinda also a #$%^ you to wizards of the coast and their dnd exclusive virtual tabletop, which if ppl didnt know it is one reason that kinda screwed over larian to release that editor for bg3 till modders found a way to release it, larian was like eh let it happen and boom mods. for sure wotc aint happy about it but them and larian no longer in license deal so whatever.
the only issue is this isnt new, other games have done this with the known three in last 5ish years are for the king, wildermyth and gloomhaven which gloomhaven videogame is adapted from the big known physical rpg board game. numbers/replayability wise they do good but issue is eventually you pick up on the ai combat patterns and what type of lvls there is if play alot of it solo or with buds. which is the downside of not having a game master for dnd or other trpgs where it can go in any direction. only way to prevent that is provide lots of updates with new stuff to urge ppl to come back and play but you need to have a good active playerbase for that. if you dont then why pour alot of resources into that?
also its gotten to the point now virtual tabletops are doing a video game like system with the creators of Foundry vtt is releasing Ember. someone needs to own the program and module game, installed it, have 3-5 players and boom play a skyrim like virtual tabletop adventure with others,
Go take your negativity elsewhere. The game runs fine as is. It works well and is fun. If you want to miss out on that because it doesn't suit to what you want, then that's on you.
...so all coop PC games are a limitation of people that dont want and cannot afford a gaming computer. With this only one person needs to have a computer while a vast majority of people have a smart phone vs a gaming computer.
So with your logic this design is far better and user friendly.
I am locking this thread since it's beginning to devolve into insults towards each other. I am all for listening to all types of feedback, positive or negative, but insulting one another gets us nowhere. Give us all the info about whether you like the phone controller or not, but once insults begin then that feedback can't be turned into something useful.
Thank you for understanding!
