The grind in this game is real nasty

All 4 campaigns have basically reskins of the same units, castle rooms, and spells.

Was it that hard to make each army have some major differences?

And what's the deal with everything costing so much to upgrade, and enemies have units level 20 in some missions while we are capped at 10?
