Ittle Dew isn't damaging Zelda in any way. If anything, it pays respect and homage to it. Quit fanboying so much, dude.
I think there's only one Zelda reference in Ittle Dew 2, and it's really hard to spot. It was easier to continue building our own universe after the first game. However, ID2's gameplay more closely resembles Zelda 1, so you could say that it's going to be more "oldschool Zelda" than ID1.
I very much enjoyed this game. I didn't expect it to be a zelda clone and thus thoroughly enjoyed what I got. I hated the end boss of the challenge dungeon, but beyond that the experience was resoundingly positive. Very good puzzle game that builds on the zelda-style block puzzles that are too often under-utilized and under-designed in many games out there.
The OP is throwing a fit and stepping way out of proportion to the "crime" he imagines, and I hope you don't single out his voice from the larger chorus of delight.
Both of these things are just plain false.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ^_^
I think I'll just replay minish cap or something... At least that's relaxing.
Great contribution to this thread.
I was willing to give a neutral rating for all of the above reasons until the final boss. The final boss reminded me step-by-step of why exactly I HATED this game.
* RNG-Based Combat
* Inability to see boss half the time on bomb phases.
* Spam of annoying enemies and too many blocks
* Bullet Hell AGAIN on top of everything else.
* No boss health indicator
People swear by this game, and I can only imagine that they are masochists because I had nothing but an aggravating disgrace of an experience playing this.
The things I like in a Zelda game that this game doesn't have are: a greater assortment of tools, a larger world, a more elaborate story, a more immersive atmosphere, and more elaborate combat mechanics. But still, all those things are way too time consuming and expensive for a small indie team of five to develop, so I'd never hold that against the developers.
I think this game is excellent at what it tries to do, and it's really enjoyable and awesome. Definitely worth the few bucks I paid for it, and I'm definitely going to try speedrunning it eventually. It did give me strong Zelda feels, and I'd love to see Ittle in action again.
