Dual Wielding a melee and ranged weapons

Is wielding a one-handed melee weapon in one hand and a one-handed ranged weapon in the other good?

I tried it briefly in the demo and it was neat (It just looks cool too), but it felt like my character didn't really know what they wanted to do in combat.

However I could just be doing things wrong, so I want a second opinion.

its depends on ur playstyle. example is like chainsword with onehanded flamer. u get an ranged option but u will downgrade ur melledamage. for a support playstyle its good because u can act at most ranges but for a hardhitting melee tank 2 handed things will have a way higher damage and better skills for that role. so its like a taste thing. dual range is okay becasue u dont have to reload but it will downgrade ur damage. i hope there will be a dualwield skill in the game because right now it dosent give u enough benefit for not using twohanded melee or range

You have an archetype for this > Arch-Militant. Lot of buff/abilities based on switching attack type each time. Increase your number of attack / round and can be devastator (based on youtube preview). It can work with ranged/melee, or ranged/ranged, melee/melee if you switch type of attack (solo, aoe, burst...).

even with arch militant, would it just be better to have a ranged weapon set and mellee weapon set? can't you just switch between those freely?

I really want pistol and sword to work, so I'm looking for an actual benifit to it.
