You get reputation with the explorers just as you do with any other faction - by gifting loot from your cargo.
In the initial dialogue Omicron talks about some Promethium which has yet not been paid for by the explorers to the Valancius dynasty.
If you refuse to accept the payment, relations to the Explorers automatically maxes out.
Yeah, I mean it's pretty clear that's the general intention, but my questions are:
1. How do you identify specific loot items Opticon-22 is interested in?
2. How do you "gift" them to him?
2. hence, you gift the cargo to him just like you do with the other factions
I did have one labelled "Miscellaneous" (note: not "Miscellaneous items") and I tried giving him that one but I got no reaction at all out of him.
I am absolutely flummoxed as to what I am supposed to give to Optocn-22 to improve my relationship with his faction and I would like someone to explain this to me please.
Okay, let me ask: Are you LITERALLY, GENUINELY autistic? Or just immensely obtuse and incapable of basic deduction? The whole thing is quite obviously fluff explainign the basic cargo for reputation system. There is no special rewards there, only waht rep you get for any container.
Also, did you by any chance notice the "Mechanicus Creations" and "Xenotrophies" cargo categories? You know, the ones where technological items and xenos stuff including wepaons and tech respectively end up?
It seems that just as you don't understand the meaning of the word "complacency" and can't be bothered to look it up and check, preferring to spout nonsense from the top of your own head instead, in this case you are equally lazily drawing an incorrect conclusion by not reading what they game actually says about this.
For the benefit of other readers and Owlcat (I don't really give a toss what you yourself think) let's review the evidence shall we?
Opticon-22's dialogue menu has two top options:
1. I want to make a trade deal.
This option enables you trade cargo crates in exchange for rep. It works fine.
2. I seek the friendship of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
In this option Opticon-22 tells you he wants three particular types of goods so that "Diplomatic links are strengthened". Strengthening diplomatic links is not the same thing as raising reputation. It is very unclear from this alone what this means in practice in the game from this dialogue alone, but it is obviously something different to ordinary trades carried out using option 1.
However the meaning does becomes clearer from reviewing the Journal, specifically the quest:
A new Ruler - strike a deal with an influential partner
Rogue Traders posses immense power and many of the world’s influential figures wish for an alliance with them. For the Lord Captain to make a deal with such a powerful partner and supply them with resources of riches would to to asset himself as a shrewd venturer.
From this one can conclude that if you give Opticon-22 a certain number of the three different items he listed in his response to dialogue option 2 then a formal diplomatic alliance can be negotiated and the requirements of the "A New Ruler" quest can be fulfilled. The problem is, and the point of this thread, is that is not at all clear a) what items exactly Opticon-22 wants or b) how mechanically you pass them to him.
I am am L35 now having just started Act 3. I have traded loads of cargo to Opticon-22 and raised my rep with him to VII ages ago. But that has not resulted in a change in diplomatic relationship and a fulfilment of the "New Ruler/strike a deal" quest requirements. Nor have I had any option to do such thus far with any other "influential figure" in the game.
The quest remains open and I just want to know how to resolve it bascially.
