There's a bug in the blood bath case

I'm stuck in the blood bath case. I can't seem to progress at the broken pillar. I'm supposed to be able to use my special ability but nothing shows up. How do i fix this?

Did you pick up the metal piece in Bentcliff's office in the bath house? You have to stand a little bit to the side (from the front) and look up. There you should be able to place the metal piece.
