Recording with Guitar Rig 5 and Sonar x3
Hi Everyone,

I am trying to record through Guitar Rig 5.

I have installed GR5 fine and can play through my Rocksmith USB cable with a little help from ASIO4ALL.

I have managed to load GR5 as a synth in SX3 but I can't get any sound to go through GR5 as a plugin like it GR5 is just running by itself.

http://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/knowledge-base/show/438/sonar-guide-how-to-insert-native-instruments-software/

I have sort of tried to load it similar to this. Although my Sonar does not have the same options available. Like for instance mine does not have vst32 or 64 listed, only has VST2 available and I don't have FM8.

GR5 starts as a plugin but ASIO4ALL doesn't start and I can't get to any options in GR5 to change my Audio input options because it is loaded as a plugin and not in stand alone mode.

I hope that makes sense and any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Ok so update,

I can get it recording through guitar rig.

Expect now, I can't hear it 'live' - I can only hear what I have recorded. Do I have to route the audio from the Synth track somewhere?

Do you have "Input Echo = On" on the track - to the right of the Arm Record button.

Oh my. Rookie mistake.

Thanks for that.

Now there is a massive delay, any ideas there?

See http://steamcommunity.com/app/241070/discussions/0/540733524328308319/ regarding GR5 CPU modes.

An external audio interface with ASIO drivers may assist(?)

Otherwise tweaking your buffers in ASIO4ALL / Sonar.

PS: I don't actually have GR5 / your setup.

Awesome, thanks so much. Changed the buffer size right down and that changed it.

Thanks for you help!!

For the assistance of all - did you change the Sonar or ASIO4ALL buffers?

Right on.

I went to Edit > Prefences > Driver Settings > Mixing Latency and dropped it right down.

Seems to be a lot better and I will keep playing around.
