Trading posts and besieging

Hi, enjoying the game but just two things I have been puzzled by:

1. How do I get the beseige command to be available? Just having more clans/power next to bandits doesn't seem to give me the option.

2. Is there any way to get on to the space to set up a trading post apart from waiting for the space to freeze? Because some rivers might go many years without freezing!

If you have more clans with attacking capabilities (on the same spot, merged as one army) next to a barbarian camp than are in the barbarian camp you should see the besiege option. As far as I could see It has nothing to do with power but just with manpower (amount of clans).

Trading posts don't work on large rivers (the big fat ones that your units cannot cross normally). They only work on streams, the smaller waterways that you can cross with a turn penalty. Large rivers are basically just a terrain obstacle, like mountains.
