Day cycle / time
I absolutely love how there is no stamina bar and no forced sleep. I absolutely cannot wait to explore the world at my own pace and spend hours just tinkering without being rushed. I’m wondering though - there is still a concept of days passing. Does this really mean anything ie will we be punished in any way for getting to say day 50 having not achieved anything?

Tester here. If you've played the demo, you know something happens on Day 5. It has some effects on the town and will be resolved by quests made available to you.

Otherwise, there's no real pressure. The initial professions you choose and your playstyle will affect how fast you progress. So, spending your days re-arranging your crops or making decorations and redoing your farm won't penalize you.

The time affects the NPCs. They sometimes wander at different times and go inside their houses / go to bed at a random time late night. Yes, it changes. Not to worry, in the full game the map shows where any quest related NPC is at the current time, just highlight the quest. It will also tell you if they're asleep with an icon.

Shops don't close, so buying and selling won't be an issue.
