no quick inventory button?

playing on controller, so having to drag the items all the way down to the bottom of the bag is. fairly incredibly annoying. infinite inventory is nice, but doesn't feel good when i can't quickly press a button to put things on the hotbar or into the inventory. if there is a button, then i don't know what it is, as i feel like i've tried all of them.

bottom left there is a sort button if its an xbox controller its the X button on the playstation controller its the square button

yes, i know the sort button exists but that's not what i'm asking for/about. i'm asking for a button that, in 1 click, puts the item you're hovering over into the inventory or onto the hotbar, which i don't think exists via testing.

I think there is a reason that most games do not feature bottomless inventory and this is it. Especially for controllers, this is an unwieldy system. I really want chests to keep like items together that I won't need often instead of the infinite scroll when I go to search for an item or sell unwanted stuff.

it's a shame because on top of having to either mash or hold down the a button, you can't instantly put all of an item into a chest on controller. which seems like a major oversight. i'm playing on steamdeck personally, so i don't even *have* a mouse to use; touching the right touchpad does not summon a mouse when the inventory UI is open. it's just incredibly annoying :/
