Pirate outfit
My profession is a treasure hunter and I am fairly new to this game. What is the purpose of making the pirate outfit? The next item I am to make is the pirate flag. Do I need to hold on to these or can they be sold? I can't find much info.

The pirate outfit, like all (with a handful of exceptions not relevant until you've pretty much beaten the game) profession craftable items, have two purposes - Largely they are there just to grind out money. You make a bunch of them, you sell them, you buy more professions. There are however quests to show profession items to their respective tutors every once in a while, which you can then sell afterward. The items required for those quests are the last item of a set, a set being all the items you can make with a particular zone's materials. For the treasure hunter, that would be the black sails (not the flag), the ship bell, the chronometer, and the ghost cannon

I made a chest at one time - would it be wise to stow the pirate items there, the ones I've made so far? I can find no real use for the chest (nothing like other games to store all this inventory stuff).
The quest giver for each job only asks for the last item on the set of items you can create, everything else can be sold. There's no need to hold onto them, as they don't serve any purpose other than being sold.

And a chest can be useful for when you've so many items, that keeping every single item in your inventory might raise the time you need to put stuff on your hotbar (though that's more of a controller problem than for M+K)
