Pigs Bugged?
Hello, I've had my pigs for at least 40 days, yet they never produce anything. They eat hay from the trough daily, yet nothing comes out. I assumed they don't produce anything.

BUT now I'm stuck on progressing my professions because I don't have any ginger. I assumed it is another farm vegetable, but since it didn't unlock after the chocolate, I looked in the description and there it was - GINGER IS DROPPED BY PIGS.

So this must be a bug, right??? Chicken and goats produce their produce just fine from day 1.

How do I get them to produce the stuff? And how do I get back all the produce I missed all these days? I'm quite annoyed that I missed out on all those resources for so long.

You have to hoe the ground (don't have to plant anything) near the pig pen and let the weed grow. Once pigs eat the weed, they will drop ginger and fertilizer.

The way the pigs work is a bit clunky, and I've sent in a ticket saying as much, so they're working on that probably.

Thank you everyone for your input! I will try that out and report back.

What I've managed to find in another post is that you need to throw hay at them (same you do with Luma food) and that seems to be working as well. But an automated way is what I'm looking for.

Hoe the ground, water it with a sprinkler and then let the weeds grow (this is what pigs eat) so dont place rabbits in there with them.

Hi Vorshin, I did not know that I'm supposed to water the ground to make the weeds grow. Thank you for the tip!

Just put down a trough and add the hay.

Same with the Luma enclosure. Put down a trough and add their food to it.

While the pigs feed daily from the trough, they do not produce ginger or fertilizer using this method (at least for me, people who read this please add comments if this method works for you).

After more testing, I can confirm that:

1. Feeding them weeds from plowed ground produces fertiliser and sometimes ginger
2. Throwing hay at them produces 1 ginger/pig. This can be done daily in addition to getting the produce from them eating weeds

Hope this helps other people.

@ackadia I did not know I can use the trough to feed my Lumas same way as chicken and goats. I'll give it a try, thanks!!!

The pigs need to be in the same area as some of your crops is what I've found. I had them with my crops then moved them to an area separated and they stopped producing fertilizer. The hay is what they produce ginger from. So requirements are crops and hay trough in the area.

What they need for the fertilizer is actually weeds, which usually grows on crops or plowed land. That's a good advice, to place them with the crops. Thanks!
This was driving me crazy until I discovered one additional factor. The pig only eats and produces fertilizer and/or ginger first thing in the morning. None of the weeds and no hay disappeared for the rest of the first day no matter what I tried. Next morning, he ate one hay from the trough and produced one ginger, and he ate maybe half the weeds and produced fertilizer. Then again did nothing for the rest of the day.
