I've only seen the general store in town selling clay. Been to the mushroom vendors but no clay. Seems to be random loot in any chests. Any tips getting more clay?

Nope, they're randomly in chests and that's the properway to obtain it.

The general store also has 10 clay for sale... but it always takes a few in-game days until 10 are available again.
