I haven't tried it, but maybe if you hoe away the grass and replace it with sand or rock instead of hay...

I actually dont know how to replace the tilled ground XD how do you do that?

Once you use your hoe on it, like you are going to plant something, stick sand in your hot bar. It will let you plop it in the spot you just tilled.

I don't think you have to hoe it first - just remove grass with axe and then use the gravel or sand :)

Unfortunately, gravel or sand does not stop grass, weeds, shrubs, trees, etc. from growing where the sand or gravel is and eventually overtakes it. It's very frustrating trying to decorate or set up gardens and work areas.

This is actually quite annoying. I spent about an hour and a half placing sand all the way around my entire farm because it does not accidentally get hit when you're harvesting crops with your hoe like gravel does. Unfortunately either rain washes it away over time or a bug removed ALL of it over 500 tiles of sand I had manually placed.

GG - Make a pathway that doesn't get hit by the damn tools you want us to use when farming.

gravel DOES stop it. partially broken gravel does not.

my entire farm is drowned in gravel paths and have not had to replace any of it in over 100 days

I had seen several content creators do gravel where it didn't last, but perhaps they had an early build and this is a change from that. I have only tried sand myself because of that and it definitely does not last long. I would still like them to give us proper paths that don't take forever to put down and have more variety, but I will give gravel a try for now. Thanks for sharing!

I am 100% positive it does stop grass however it gets picked up by the hoe tool when harvesting your crops. I got annoyed and repalced every tile with max layer sand to prevent this and found out the hard way the rain washes away the sand paths.

it does not get picked up by the hoe. I charge my hoe use and hit gravel and it doesnt pick it up because its only targeting crops since thats the one I initially targeted.

if you target the gravel directly it will then hit the gravel. just aim slightly better and you can use the full charge of your upgrades hoe without worry.

So you're telling me you never use the AOE ability with your hoe when harvesting crops? Because my farms are very large and theres no chance in hell I'm doing it 1 at a time. So yeah sometimes I miss click, if you don't thats GREAT for you and also nobody cares. But you are dead wrong the hoe will 100% remove your gravel path even if you place 2 units of gravel in a single tile if its in the AOE of your hoe and thats whats being discussed.

I stated I do the AOE. if you target a CROP first then your AOE (even the 3x3 and higher) will only chop the crops and not pick up gravel. it only picks up the gravel if your first target was gravel. I tested.
