Hate the fishing in this game
Hate the fishing, i play using keyboard and mouse and i can not do the fishing this way, it really needs looking at and doing a different way, it would be much better if it was like the way it is done in most other games

im using a controller and strangely I find this fishing to be one of the more fun fishing minigames out there.

I think controller is the way to go considering M+K's weird af hold right click to move camera thing. (dumb)

understandable but there are a LOT of steam games that are designed for controller (even steam sells controllers)

highly recommend you adapt and get one, because some games dont support m+k and others (like this one) just feel a LOT better with a controller.

I prefer mouse and keyboard, but honestly there are more than a few games that just work better and feel better with a controller. I have found that at least for me, this style of game is more controller friendly so I play it mostly on my steam deck. If I play it on my PC, I do plug in a controller because it just works better. Now, FPS games, no way, but a controller is simple to pick up for this game.

Ideally, mouse movement would be used to chase the fish, and holding left click to reel in, rather than having to mash it.

Been playing the game with mouse and keyboard and it works really well for the most part, but I just decided to try out a controller to test out the fishing using it, and it does feel a lot better for this purpose, so I'll probably start using both control methods based on what I need them for.

Yes, M+KB fishing is a bit clunky, but I've not had any trouble catching fish so far..

This game is absolutely a controller game for me. I tried mouse and keyboard and just don't like it here.

I prefer K&M but, I have no issue using a controller for certain games. This game was a controller game from the start.

Come to think of it, we should really have used the mouse wheel to make it more like real fishing, shouldn't we? 😁

I don’t fully get it tbh. Do you have to touch the fish? Or are you aiming for its mouth? Or just trying to stay in the vicinity of it?

I found a better way to fish with mouse and keyboard, just hold right-click to turn the camera while pressing W to move, or whichever key you've bound forward to, it makes it fairly easy to navigate the fish chase, even easier than controller once you get the hang of it, since you can fine tune your camera sensitivity with the mouse.

Eh, I wouldn't make mouse wheel the reeling button, but yeah, it is a bit awkward without precise movement on WASD.

I'm on the same page as the OP. I use keyboard and mouse and don't want to use a controller.
Aside from that, how do you actually catch a fish? I cast the line with the left mouse button and as soon as it hits water it says to reel it in. That doesn't seem thought out very well because it actually doesn't seem to work. So then I wait and see a fish with an exclamation point and not sure what I'm supposed to do at this point because nothing it working. I haven't caught one single fish. :(

Sorry, but the fishing is just nuts. And I chose Fishing as my profession.
