Targeting controls are wonky

Devs, please fix targeting things, every time I try to gather mushroom or a berry, my character is hitting grass/stone/do whatever, but not doing the action I want to perform. The "target grid" is often not showing up correctly, mostly on the rugged terrains. It's even more frustrating while doing farming.

Ps. It's wonky both for controller and keyboard+mouse controls.

this has less to do with targeting and more to do with action priority.

this is fixed instantly if you switch to empty hands instead of holding your axe etc.

Yep. i have same problem. Character ignore mouse aiming and you need to perfectly aim your character with wasd keys.
This works good on controller but i wanna to play with mouse.

Oh, so it would be cool if we had "empty hand" slot in hotbar to switch on it. Instead, how to make "hands empty" if the hotbar is fullfilled by tools?
