Shallow gameplay?
The gameplay seems quite empty.
You only produce goods to sell and thats it?

Yes I have seen some reviews on Youtube.

This guy complains about a shallow gameplay:

oh no i watched it.. Josh's review was kinda agreeable when he mentioned you can't even eat the food you cooked and everything is just similar.

So its a shallow game?
Will there be more updates or new things to be added?

I think this Video is another point of view: https://youtu.be/DgkxJ71uz1Y?si=43rr8DysiGO5d_RE

It's more fantasy life with riddles and adventure, than a farming game.

I enjoyed Fantasy Life on the 3DS very much. If its similar then it will be fine.

I think the main problem for most of the people is the lack of stamina and that there is no romance.
I love the grinding and exploring part of the game, so for me it's a day one buy

I am happy that there is no romance, I find it a hassle to do romance stuff like in My Time At Sandrock for example.

This isnt stardew valley, there isnt romance and you dont need to eat food to refill your stamina. Stop looking for the gameplay to be 200 hours long with everything you have ever wanted.

I agree, we can't compare this to farm-sims like Stardew Valley. I think it's a mix, Animal Crossing, farming-sim and My Sims. For me, also instant buy today! I really enjoyed the demo.

Josh has become to much of a farmer to see this games potential. Needs to take the straw from his mouth once in a while. I had such a blast just playing the demo, I know this game is for me. It is a good easy going adventure, so much to do as you progress, updating tools and the like. The profession you choose determines just what you will do early on. Doubt I will be planting much, had my feel of dirt under finger nails from Everholm. Glad to put the watering can down for a bit.

I 100% agree with you, ella bee. I really like Josh and his reviews, but this time he's wrong, or let's say he just wanted to see farming game in Luma Island, but it's more than that! I had so much fun in demo, instabuy for me.

Lack of stamina bar, forced bedtime and too much npc social interaction is what makes this game stand apart for me and I love it. Those things made Stardew Valley unplayable for me.

I got this for the exploring and fishing/archaeology so the farming being simplistic is a plus, to me.

I'm kind've glad there's no romance stuff. I enjoyed it to some degree in Stardew Valley and My Time in Portia, but often times developers focus too much on putting time into fleshing that out further before expanding the very base part of the game's mechanics that make it a "cozy" game. It's fine to put in, I'm all for it, but at the start, not at the cost of time being taken away from things like generated quests, secrets about the game world to uncover, mining / foraging, crafting mechanics, etc.

My thoughts are mixed on the stamina bar thing. This is likely not going to be a popular opinion but once you get to a certain point (a little before completing the community center), it starts to seriously feel like groundhogs day. You sleep just to get that next day count in for your crops, you've already gone to the bottom of the mine, and any other content that people say is tons of, you just feel like you're working your ass off and pulling teeth to pull it out of the game. People say there's tons to do, but no not really. There are several activities but none of which are more than surface deep. I personally see a big culprit to that as being dev time spent on relationship stuff. Social status with villagers / npcs is great if there's something that rewards the player for their involvement of time (ex. unlocked blueprints via the npc sharing them with you, activities that can be done with the npc, etc.).

In other words and in my opinion, if I'm asking "what's the point?!" (and I don't mean a surface level answer either) then the mechanic should really be re-visited. For example, one might say, well the point to becoming friendly to an npc is you can eventually marry them. I'm still asking the question "Ok, but what's the point?!". In the context of Stardew Valley, "Do they help with chores? If so, are the chores that bothersome that having an extra hand to do them is something I feel worth the effort to romance an npc??" It's all about getting to the very most crux of the "why" to a mechanic.
