Typing responses/freeform keywords

Is there any point to the fact that they let you type in keywords? It seems that the only ones that work are the ones they show you in the selection box below. I've yet to type a response that got any kind of result besides "huh?" Do I just suck at it, or is there literally no reason that this feature exists?

yes. there ARE a few rare examples of keywords that activate unique dialogue or trigger an event.

I've now tried everything on that list, and some of it really does work.

like saying "Brother" to Baykowski in the Happy Valley Prison area will get you unlimted rad suits, er, not that you'd want unlimited rad suits...

also, the AG center computer command code is actually a timesaver.

you have to have a conversation skill to use some of those commands...like Bad azz or kiss azz or smart azz....and you can find trinkets that help modify your stats like Ranger Stars..
