I just found 50 hard boiled eggs in my inventory

They appeared there after the update. When eaten, it gives an egg effect for a few seconds. .....Is there any other purpose, besides ..egg effect? How and why did they appear?

I think that is the reward for giving the dog whistle to the scrapyard guy who was looking for his dogs.
As for the effect, I guess they are meant to be used during combat for the AP.
