Confusion about the Canyon of Titan Questline. (spoilers, obviously)

So, i have played till where i find the diamondback HQ and i`m slightly confused as to how their quest is supposed to work. Mainly because i can't believe that working with the milita would require of me to not aquire a monk escort and fight through every monk checkpoint and Raidercamp along the way. I had the talk with the shadowy figure and then went to the first chekpoint and aquired an escort from the monks for the tribute of radioactive wast in order to get through. Shortly after there are three DBM soldiers along the way, immediatly attacking me for having a monk. After dealing with them i also found the three DBM's lieing in wait at the first checkpoint, which, of course, also attacked me immediatly. Since i intended to ally up with them i thought, "ah, ok. So the probably help me fight the checkpoint when i try to force my way through." But nope, they don`t. And the monks kicked my ass. So i reloaded again, aquired a monk and passage and killed the three DBM's I (apperantly?) have to face. I thought: "Okay, the shadowy figure said that only he and his CO would know of me, so maybe thats the deal." But also nope. The DBM Commander is pretty pissed that i killed his men. (I found a lot more hiding DBM's across the way, killed em all.) So i had all this "♥♥♥♥ you, pay up, do suicide mission" conversation and stopped because i kinda can't get my head around how thats supposed to work from there on.

So, the DBM wants me to "infiltrate" the Temple of Titan, aka the missile silo, in order to stop the nuke from being fired during their assault.
Problem is that the DBM killed my monk escort in order for me to even being allowed into their base, which does make sens.
But how am I supposed to infiltrate the Temple now? All monks are attacking me for breaking Titans peace and neither do i have the ressources to fight my way in nor does it make any sense since they would probably launch the missile if their base is attacked, right? I mean, it`s the reason why i`m supposed to "infiltrate" in the first place.
But how can I get into the base without aquiering a monk escort and killing DBM's along the way AND not loosing the escort when i reach the DBM HQ?

Go to the Temple of Titan as long as you got the monk escorting you. Then go back to the DBM base without a monk. This way you're not breaking Titan's peace.
