Wasteland 2

Wasteland 2

Statistiche:
Extremely high gpu usage ?
So yeah, this game doesn't look very good graphically, it looks pretty damn bad actually for a game made in 2014. But somehow it's using my good old gtx 680 to the absolute max. Whats up with that ?

Beats me. Sounds like your settings. I haven't had any issue with that.
The engine they liscensed doesn't always work great with systems when it comes to GPU usage, I know I've had issues with every game that uses it, but its the standard for these games because as the name suggests it can run on pretty much every platform, mobile and OS.

Edit: lol and its called the Unity Engine, somehow I missed that point I was making.

Well i do have everything on max settings, but there is not much there. Full textures, soft shadows, antialiasing... The usual stuff.

I understand when games like Metro Last Light or Tomb Raider max out my gpu, because they look amazing. But this ? I just don't understand, it must be poor optimisation.

I think it's an engine that sacrifices high performance for widespread useability, but you'd have to ask someone in the industry.

Same here, and using a lil ol' 750 ti. No issues. Beats me.
Just turn anti_aliasing off and lower your shadows...wont really notice a whole big difference in looks but performance will be much better. I'm running it at max res with a GT440 and its smooth.

EDIT: Too many variables in how the game was developed how it uses memory how it uses gpu resources..etc.

Are you monitoring the gpu performance in real time ? Do you get stable 60 fps ? Doesn't your gpu usage hit 100% constantly and average at around 80% ? Mine does... It's weird.
Turned vsync off and sent fps to 30.. My gpu went from almost 80c to 55c. Its like the game tried to squeeze everything it could get out of the gpu. Think no other game I played taxed my gpu this hard.

Dat memory leak doe.

I could never play a game at 30fps, thats just torture. I do use vsync to cap fps at the perfect 60fps. Would prefer 120 or 144fps, but my monitor doesnt support that high framerate.

Max gpu memory usage reported by msi afterburner is just 800mb (out of my 2gb).
Ya - really like this game but its fugly as hell. This should play on a comador haha. Me thinks theres a memory leak or bad optimaztion. With a GTX 680 you should not have to turn down anything. I have a gtx 750 4 gig and somtimes it runs slow - if i restart its better. Only 1 thing does that - MEM LEAK

I'm not 100% sure how memory leaks work, but i assume it's when a game runs out of memory, either video ram or system ram, and fails to clear it. Resulting in a crash or slowdowns. BUT in this case, it doesn't run out of either ram or vram, so i doubt it could be a memory leak.

Its not an FPS shooter, the actual fps means less in a game such as this. Beside, there is an actual limit in how many fps your eyes can process too. and its far less than 144 that being said -)
Because of some problems with the steam overlay dx11 has been disabled in the last patch. Add "-force-d3d11" to the start parameters for a big fps gain and less heat and stress to the system. Also turn of ssoa and v-sync on.
