2. This isn't Diablo or Borderlands. You're not going to find a "magic" weapon that is somehow 10% better at scoring headshots than the one next over. You're scavenging weapons in a world where they aren't being mass produced anymore. You'd be lucky to find one at all if it wasn't for random encounter luck - You've got mods and that's that.
3. Thank god for the lack of "hero syndrome". You develop skills - you don't suddenly become more intelligent or get a better vision from walking through a radiated field.
4. No arguments there. The map could definitely do with some work.
5. Nothing I've noticed - sounds like you're having some user end problems.
It's not that I am against someone speaking critically of the game because there are definitely some minor issues..
*lights match*
..it's that all the stuff people are complaining about make no sense whatsoever.
*tosses match*
Tactics in this game is a slugfest you basically find and get into cover before you intiate battle and shoot everything or bomb everything until it's dead. There is no tactical depth beyond basic game mechanics.
2. In a modern game to make it interesting they could add advanced technology beyond "energy weapons" which has been done a million times already as well to substitute the "magic" flavor fantasy games such as diablo brings. Weaponsmithing allows you to mod weapons and make them better but it's limited to specific weapons. Shotguns can only use 1 mod while pistol's/assault rifles/snipers/smg's/energy guns get 4.
I overall feel dissappointed and can't help but feel they need something more to make their weapon's more interesting. Take boarderlands 1-2 guns for example?
3.Not all games are 100% balanced but all the good ones are at least 80% this one drags so far behind balanced it's a joke. you can beat the game with only 2 attributes maxed and one at 6 the rest at 0. awareness 10 speed 10 str 6 on all chars will win in any difficulty, try it i dare you. You will attack 3x as much as anyone else you recruit in the game, so essentially you start out OP and end up OP as soon as you roll your character! why bother playing?
This is not the bug reporting forum. If your pathetic post was meant to be a review, you're also in the wrong place. But nobody cares about your opinion anyways.
I would love to hear what you think is missing here - No really.
And again - Not Borderlands or a "hit em and loot em" game. You can only go so far before a game loses all immersion. (Fallout 3's mini nuke lobbers anyone? The trash launcher? Jesus...)
everything is linear there ... if you are there, you might as well go to Titan Canyon.
You will love that, it is the one area they take away angela deth from you.
But the area is like mini wasteland one. with all the freedom and choices.
So do that titan area, I hated the prison also complained about it.
Calm down man, why this hate meassge of urs. I said the game is still good. I did not say it is unplayable. It is just not what I expected!!!
I see that as fair comment on why you have been somewhat disappointed with the game.
I don't think you're right combat has no tactical elements, but I do accept there are limitations to it. Seems to me they've gone for a Gunfight at the OK Corral style thing, a whites-of-their-eyes slug-fest. There is often limited cover and it can be difficult to establish any sort of tactical position for many encounters. However there is a lot in fluidity of movement and target selection which comes into play more in LA where the dificulty goes up somewhat and you can't always win a straight up slug-fest.
Power is really about To Hit chance and HP pool to my mind. 100% To Hit and 300HP is not easy to argue with in an OK Corral style stand up fight.
I think the loot thing is connected to the idea that you are under pressure over healing and ammo, you are always scrambling about for scraps here and there to survive in the face of deadly well equipped opposition. I've never played the original game but I suspect this was a key element of it and why they've made loot deliberately underwhelming.
Nobody said that this game was the end all of all games or the second coming of Jesus. Please the hyperbole is over the top. I've read many posts in this forum and the most expressive, to say the least, have been the critiques.
This game is the vision of its creators and the people who supported a return to old school turn based crpg based on the original Wasteland. Of course it has flaws...all games have flaws, no matter what you think of the "best" games you played. No game appeals to everyone, so if it isn't your cup of tea, so be it.
Your points two, three and four sum it up your misconception. This game isn't about becoming god-like or epic loot. But, neither was the original Wasteland.
For example staying in the TBRPG flavor we could,
shoot their eyes causing "Blind"
blinding them could debuff them for X% less chance to hit for 1 or 2 turns
Shooting the gun out of their hand could make them roll a dice to see if they miss that turn to
"pick it back up" or reduce AP by 1/2
Shooting their legs could have a chance to immoblize them or slow movement by X% and Y% for 1 or 2 turns.
You should be able to mod grenades to bounce off walls and other things around corners, manipulate/control your environment, feel like your next strategy will make a huge outcome for your next turn/overall battle.
For example jury rig a trash car that would be used for cover to blow up the second an NPC goes over to it for cover.
Shoot the foundations of a crumbling building to collapse on the guys using it for cover or just standing close by
Use charisma to talk some drug addict to wear a shady looking vest which is actually dynamite to his body and say hello to the sorry son of a gun you want hurt to start the combat initiation.
Use animal whisperer to do more than recruit dogs, cows and goats that simply just give you stats and/or used to set off land mines. For example recruiting Honey Badgers/Animal's as a slot to your squad with their own unique skills instead of developing a melee specialized character or having 5-30 charisma for recruiting human npc's.
The fact that you can't set up traps like land mines or use the environment for anything other than cover is dissappointing. Although i recall the prison having a land mine field you can lure the scorpian bandits into. Also some scattered petroleum tanks laying about you can shoot for aoe explosions. Not that they ever run into those traps anyways.
I am calm. Just pointing out facts.
