Having an issue with safes impossible to select

Hi, anyone else having an issue looting safes? I get the message 'XX finds a working tumbler' I then use the lock pick skill and find the safe impossible to target :( . I've tried alarm skill, computer skill and brute force also, again i just get the 'invalid target!' prompt and no results. I feel im missing a pile of looting opportunities. I thought at first the context target might be tiny so i've hovvered all over it with the mouse and still nothing.
Am I missing something obvious?

Not really. There is some really bad design at work here. Sometimes the hotspot is out of place or other invisible objects overlap and obstruct your actions. Try rotating the view and watching it from different angles.

That's because safes are not opened with the lockpicking skill, but with the safecracking skill. It's an invalid target because you're simply using the wrong skill for it; the same way it would be an invalid target if you used surgery.

Or... explosives, but you'll quite possibly ruin the contents if you try that way.

Also, while we're at it: for any kind of electronic lock, be it on a door or a safe, you need to use the alarm skill.

True, that does work, but the challenge is usually higher than with the alarm skill.

need a password or skill is to low like infected farm
