Monk follower gets killed issue (some spoilers)
So when having the monk follower I ran to the DBM HQ and the monk was immediately killed.

Continuing my quest for radioactive sludge I decided to gun down some raiders. (As I didn't have a monk they instantly became hostile.) I wiped them out, and got the final 3rd sludge.

Next I continued to turn in my bucket-o-sludge quest only to discover that I had broken some "rules" by killing raiders with monks. So now I have to get SIX buckets of sludge.

The whole map is covered with monk protected raiders, so good luck getting past them and retrieving the sludge peacefully.

I guess my only choice now is to go berserk and kill all monks and raiders for the DBM. Luckily I have backups of my save games just before my monk got killed.

Anyway, I have only my self to blame and I really enjoy how the consequences of my actions really change my options and the outcome. I just wanted to share this in case someone else did the same thing :)

Also. It seems that my monk follower gets full health when loading a saved game. It is also possible to heal him to prevent him from dying.

If you really want to side with the DBM and don't want to have to kill all the raiders in the canyon AND also collect double the amount of sludge, simply deliver your three barrels before going to the DBM base. As soon as you reach the Temple, Shapiro will leave your party. After that, he will only join you again if and when you ask, so it becomes possible to avoid him being killed by the DBM. As for avoiding killing monk protected raiders (which can be painfull because explosions) it's just a matter of knowing where not to go, and it's possible to reach the DBM base without triggering any such encounter.

killing all the monks will make you rich! if you kill a vendor you get his stock :)

yup! doing all that now :)

Currently I have no need for cash. I've got over 7000 and nothing cool to spend it on :/

i had a stockpile of 5k assorted ammo, or save it for later when your ammo needs change ;)

Especially fun when the suicide monks get the movement bug (tm) and marathon stroll right into your midst while lugging a 20 megaton thermonuclear device. ;)

I dropped Monk Shapiro off at the Temple before visiting the DBM. Was very fun to go in there weaponless, and casually reprogram all the turrets. Made my next visit with weapons far more entertaining. :)
