Save the Condemned Man [Spoilers]

I figured I would go and save the condemned man from being shot by a priest for eating a clam. I am trying to save him without having to kill the priest, or anyone around him.

Is that possible? Or do I have to gun down the priest and his entire retinue? I looked it up online, and apparently solving this quest is way, way more roundabout than that, and involves going to Angel Oracle (though, if that is the case, why would it give me co-ordinates directly to the execution?)

So, what do I do? What can I do? I would PREFER not to kill anyone. (Honestly, I kind of resent that pacifism is not an option in this game).

are you sure you aren't confusing two quests? There is a quest in Angel Oracle to save a condemned man. But that has nothing to do with the sinner (shellfish-eater).
If i remember correctly, you have two speech options, one allows you to kill the sinner, the other makes you start battle with the priest and nuns.

As for pacifism. Well, you can just stand there and watch the execution. No ones stopping you.

position your men around the center and have the hard ass guys talk to the priest and start fighting. keep your distance from the civilists and move your hard ass guy away from the priest so bullets don't accidently hit the guy you want to save.

If you save the boy and his friend, you get to understand why the priest actually calls them sinners. Made me laugh. They ran off to their "thing" again.

that starts the combat as well, just doesn't give you XP like the speech option does.

And I suppose I could just lie and say I'll shoot the sinner, then turn right around and give him a third eyesocket.
