If you did not agree to let Red tag along with you to find it,he would have gotten it already before you.
However,if you let him tag along,you will have to use the screwdriver(labelled as a quest iterm) from the locker and use it on one of the floor grates in the plane to find the "treasure".Use Z to highlight them but they can be abit hard to spot since the outline is not green in color.
That, and the fact that even mid game they only have 25-50 hp makes it really frusterating.
Also, if you have that little robot with you, protect it as much as you can. The debuff it applies to enemies is very, VERY good (somewhere between 15% to hit bonus, or even more). Hint: you can repair it with mechanical repair, and overclock it with computer science. Overclocking will increase its evade by 15%, and may have some other effects.
As of 5-29-23 Perception 6 is NOT enough, I'm standing right in front of it, and nada...
