Killing Tinker and Saving Binh

Is it possible to kill Tinker and still save Binh?

Even using a LAW Rocket, which should wipe him out, just prompts the killswitch and his final dialogue.

I just did this last night, so yes it is possible. Sneak around inside his building and hack your way to a satisfying conclusion!

Hidden in a corner to your immediate left upon getting into the room with Tinker is a set of Computer Consuls.

I think you need about 5 in Computers which is very doable with Rose or NaCL Wolf Followers. First you turn on the consuls. Then there are two consuls. The one in the corner turns off the kill switch for Binh. The other kills all the robots plus Binh.

You get a happier ending for your trouble which in this game is probably worth more than 50 scrap.

The Tinker is packing an 8086 with a blazing 10Mhz of clock speed. Faster than any rocket.

it's not working. the proper order SHOULD be:

-hack large computer to enable communication
-hack small computer to disable wireless
-hack smal computer to start feedback loop

unfortunately, you can't actually hack the second computer; it simply won't let my use computer skill on it at all. if i trigger the feedback loop instead, binh dies.

so, sounds like a bug to me.

Might be a new bug introduced in a recent patch, it happens. The quest worked for me when I did it thankfully, although I can't remember the exact sequence I did.

You only really get a warm feeling inside if Binh lives, not a big deal if she dies.

Works just fine on patch 5 , right way to do it is :
Hack the big one first , and then hack one of the smaller ones ( when you aproach them before you hack the big terminal one of the smaller ones cant be targeted by computer science but after you hack the big one this one becomes targetable then you can hack it ) combat will start all you need to do is kill all the robots and dont use rockets near tinker so you dont hurt the girl , after tinker is dead just go to binh and click on her for the cutscene

nope. turns out it's a reload issue. I saved after I hacked the first computer, then reloaded before I tried to hack the second. sometimes it would only let me hack the feedback loop terminal, sometimes not, but never the other small terminal.

if, otoh, I did them all at once, then it works fine. so state is not being saved between loading.

I saw this in the first quest with jill in titan valley as well. I saved after healing doc, but before talking to jill because I wanted to level some units up. did a reload for luck hps, then tried talking to jill, and it hangs when she tries to pull up your map.

if i DON'T do that, but instead, as soon as I first enter the valley, heal doc and then immediately talk to jill, it works fine.

Confirmed hacking:
Large computer first, sneak away
Start feedback loop (this prevents all the robots from spawning)
battle starts
Disable wifi (to prevent binh death)

This is the easiest way with the best possible ending.

i one shotted Tinker, but i did not have the quest to save Binh, so i assume she is dead? did not get any dialog, he took a critical hit rpg 7 to the face and exploded

I got two hacks, combat starts, kill the small robots, another hack, then tinker kills all consoles with some blast, but still saved Binh. It was great having the night terror with computer expert, he just soaked up the melee robots.

haha, I find the best way to do this one, as I decided after much struggle, is to just send your comp expert and maybe a medic over to the computers, hack a couple, then once combat starts you just tank hits while hacking the last computer, then hacking all the robots and laughing as you build a robot army to send Tinker to an ironic end.

Assume your map compass is North

The best I have done is to sneak then hack the large computer then sneak away, wait for the patrolling robot to go past again, then hack one of the smaller computers. The one at 7 o'clock is labeled as the one for WiFi. It seems you can only hack one of the two smaller computers before they notice you and combat starts. I chose the one that controls WiFi as Tinker will kill the girl using Wifi

During combat I get an invalid target error when trying to hack either of the two smaller computers. I defeated everybody and Tinker surrenders. The big computer is destroyed in the crossfire.

After combat the 2 small computers are intact but unhackable. Tinker and the girl Binh are still alive. You can now save her

step one: sneak to the big computer and hack it
step two: hack one of the two small computers, combat starts
step three: hack the second small computer during combat
step four: aim at shoot at the big computer (hacked in the first step) to destroy it
step five: kill tinker, binh is gonna be all right now
