Fred Darvis At Prison
Hi lads. I just arrived at the prison, saw a screaming goat, tried to animal whisper it but it failed and a nearby npc ( Fred Darvis) aggroed me. He no choice but to kill him, upon looting his corpse i noticed he has a load of stuff, so I assume he is a merchant. does it matter that I murdered this dude? It was his fault for shooting at me just for talking to his goat lol

Well if you speak to him before his goat, he implies that the RSM raped his goat...naturally he's wary of further threats to his little pet.

Also, if you speak to him and get his cart unstuck, he only trades the one time before seemingly disappearing (could be just our paths haven't crossed again, but I've only encountered him and Dan Oshry once each, versus 3-5 times w'the same generic 'wastelander' trader).

He's a one time vendor, and you were trying to take his only companion from him.

You should have just spoken to him and left the goat well alone lol! Red is a trader and later in the game; he offers you a deal about recovering treasure from a downed plane. That's all he offers in the game though and I think he only had scrap and a small amount of cash to trade.

OP is talking about Fred, not Red. Red is the bloke behind the turrets, Fred is the one w'the goat.

Red prompts the Sierra Madre mission, but is not necessary to finding the gold.

I feel bad now :( just murderered the entire red scorpian army in that map, can I not help the goat in anyway.

I didnt even see the NPC when I arrived, the goat was there and the fisrt thing one things when we see a goat is, CHAT TO THE GOAT ASAP!
