New random encounter with OP guys?
So I just came to California and left Santa Fe. Literally 30 seconds later got a random encounter. So I started it even with 75% evade chance.
There are these 6-7 guys (Dom, John, Andy, Simon, and other each with 200-400 HP called themselves furious 6 or something) asking for 10000 scrap toll, and around 4 ?wolfskins?. Everyone has tier 6 weapons. One guy with Minigun, two with Wasteland Hawks, one with Spaz 12, one with FN-FAL and the last guy with grenades. Somehow I kill them thanks to the OP Gamma Ray Blaster and a few rockets.

Behind the bridge there were around 6-9 chests, filled with ammo and several RPG-7. One guy dropped Dowsing Rod.

Wish I took some screenshots, but figured it was a known random encounter. So just at the beginning of California and already got end-game guns. Not sure if I should reload the save file, but I do feel special since can't find any info online about this encounter or its reference.

Reloaded the old save and got them again. They are called "Fab Five".

;v how did they come from Furious 6 to Fabulous 5. To begin with, Fabulous 5 is from Divinity Original SIns xD Guys came a long way

My very first encounter of the game was 2 toads and 3 dogs. Big fat alt-F4 was the result. Difficulty is kinda wierd. (this was on easy)

Is the game designed around reloading your saves all the time?

I've got them too. My solution was to fire a couple law rockets at their location. I didn't find any RPG-7s in the crates at the back, just ammo.

There's several random encounters like this. Beware of the "Nuns on Rooftops".

Sounds like a Fast and the Furious reference, Vin Diesal was Dom. Fast five was one of the movies.

I remember the nuns. They wiped me with LAW rockerts while talking ♥♥♥♥ to me when I first got to walk around in world map. I also did no damage to them.

So far California random encounters seem to be extremely unbalanced. That's what I was afraid of. Like a lot of other indie games, beginning is very well designed and thorough and by the end you get half empty unbalanced locations with barely anythign to do.
God bless F9/F11

Uhm, Miniguns? FN-FAL? Did I miss some loot back in AZ? Kinda went into LA with AKs and a ton of scraps. Bought upgraded stuff for my gang and kinda doing well so far.

This encounter is in the CA. I'm sure you will get it at some point. It has very low requirement to get it skipped so I would suggest to play all random encounters in CA untill they start to repeat.

Your own gear tends to get better really quickly in CA, too. I managed to get Pen-9 sniper rifle / Pen-10 sledgehammer from the very first random encounter.

CA isn't actually difficult if you follow the notion "every man a rifleman" -- i.e. assault and sniper rifles and maybe a single energy-weapon gunner. There's one notably ugly battle but the others become pretty straightforward if you're not a really range-limited party.

I got the nuns as my first encounter in LA. They weren't so bad, although my knife wielder only got to assassinate one, then kinda sat off to the side on the rooftops for the rest of the fight.

They all had wasteland hawks and such, weren't too bad to deal with, they did hurt, and they did take a beating, but that was with AZ weapons, and shortly afterwards it's pretty easy to upgrade.

Yes, I realize I am necroing this thread, but I wanted to point out that the Fab Five reference is probably something to do with British music groups than the Fast and the Furious franchise. That is why they keep on making references to song titles (saw a few Duran Duran ones).

The reason I am even posting this is that I just fought them. I killed them, but they killed my dang dog so I have to reload my save (it's not like I can go back to Arizona and get my dog again at the Citadel).

Back from the dead indeed. There have been so many updates that I'm sure this encounter has been drastically changed. Hopefully the game is more balanced now and worth replaying.
