Mad monks... truly mad or bugged?
So I'm the valley with the mad monks and I need to collect three radioactive sludges for the tribute. I come upon a little bandit camp with one of the barrels that has the radioactive sludge.
I can't use it because the bandit leader seems to be in love with it or something, and warns me that he'll attack if I try to take it.

Fine, whatever. I've got a monk with me if he attacks me they will be breaking the mad monk law or whatever, and they don't have any monks with them either, no problem.

So I ignore him and try to collect the sludge again and as expected he turns hostile and starts shooting.
But then my own monk says "Rangers, you have broken Titan's Peace!"

WTF?!?!?!??

This bandit shot at me, how did I break the peace?

You either need to sweettalk the raider guy or pay him.
You took the bandit's property. He warned you twice.

To get the sludge you need to pass speech-checks (ass skills) with the dudes who are yelling at you. Alternatively there are a couple barrels surrounded by gekos or badgers but for the others you need to talk with the bandits shouting at ya if you wanna take those. Otherwise you're disturbing the peace because the raider clearly tells you not to touch his radioactive goop and you ignored his right to property or whatever.

Just sweet talk them. The dailogues are worth it especially the raider guy that sells the sludge as a beauty face cream.

My understand is if you do not have a monk you are fair game. So I should be able to blast these raiders with no problem. Even change them a toll for not blasting them. They have no monk for protection.

Just find another barrel. There are more than enough barrels for the quest without bothering the ones 'owned' by raiders with monks.

There's a real bug in one of the raider barrels: One of them you can convince the guy to use it on himself, which is hilarious. Less hilarious is that after he dies every other monk you see goes hostile to you within a given radius. That was a bummer.

Just talk to the raiders and utilize speech skills, or find other barrels, there's lots. Even if you don't have speech skills the sludge costs a measely 150-200 scrap. I mean, there's not much else to spend your money on beyond ammo and weaponry.

The rules of "Titans's Peace" are quite strict. If you've got a monk (in your case Brother Shapiro is assigned) and the raiders have got a monk, whoever starts hostilities is in the wrong. If you haven't got a monk you are fair game and you are in the wrong no mater what as far as I can see.

Some of the raiders can be sweet talked (kiss a$$) into giving you sludge or bribed. Other's can't. But they can sometimes be provoked into attacking you, which put's them in the wrong. Not by just stealing their sludge though, that puts you in the wrong. However if you shoot their monk (or indeed any monk in any circumastances) even if they are in the wrong, to stop his nuke going off the temple hold it against you no matter what and will double your tribute from 3 barrels to six.

So basically don't provoke raiders into attacking you by stealing their sludge, but any other sort of provokation is OK so long as you have Shapiro with you. Don't under any ciercumstances shoot a monk - if they are setting off their nukes let them and run away from them instead.

I didnt want to pay the price for the goop and didnt have anought kiss ass skill to convince him,so i killed everyone ,even my own monk. After thst i regreted my decision a little bit because every single raider in the canyon attacked me, doubling my time spent in the valey...but it was a ton of fun and i leveled up quite a lot there.

I was set on killing the whole monk faction until i arrived at the choke point...and man there was like 10-15 guarding that choke point...so i turned around with my tail between my legs and went and get the 6 goop to pay my tribute (the valey of titan probably took me 7-9h to complete, jiizzz)

I did some experiment in Canyon of Titan. I wanted to know if there's any repercussion in killing Raiders with Monks. Basically after I gotten Brother Shapiro. I went back to entrance to get out of the map to forced Shapiro to leave the group.

I went on killing every single Raider in the canyon. Did the same thing on Temple map. Just make sure you don't hit any Mad Monks by accident during the fight in the Temple area. Or else every single Monk in the Temple will be hostile to your group.

Nothing happen to me when I gave my tribute to the Temple.

I walked away from that fight. Right next to it were some badgers. I tried to set up an ambush, but after the first shot monk went running and tried to fight the badgers. The rest of the team played with the rubic's cube we had found. Then the badgers came for us while we happened to be by the barrel, which made their monk explode. After that I shot the hell out of the raiders.
