Silo 7 SPOILERS
So I found the Nuke that the DBM wants. For some reason, sending it to the Repair Depot or Silo 8 results in them being happy, so I dunno what the reason for that is.

Anyway, I'm afraid they'll blow up the world with the nuke, so I want to disarm it. But whenever I do, they're alerted. Can I disarm it without them knowing? Do they at least not blow themselves up with it?

You can disarm it while it's still at the silo (BEFORE sending it out) if you have really high demolitions or mechanical repair. As for what they do *DBM quest spoilers* the DBM doesn't use it directly, more just to keep the monks in check so the DBM can take over the valley WITHOUT detonating a nuke which is probably better than *monk quest spoilers the monks getting both nukes and blowing it all back to hell.

Head monk and most of the monks don't want to blow up the nuke, it's a bluff.
DBM did want to blow up the nuke, if you installed the "code scrambler" they gave you in the Temple's launch computer.

Problem is, Temple nuke is a dud. And MAD are infiltrated by a Synth who does detonate the nuke.

Best sollution for xp, loot and ending for the area is to kill all the monks (so they can't broadcast to everyone that a nuke has been disarmed somewhere), then disarm the nuke. DMB takes over but they can't threaten the rangers with their nuke.

don't you have any alarm problem when you kill all the monk ? I had... PC lagged like hell when killing enola and roy OR/AND attacking the hospital in temple. All because of the alarms and can't turn them off.

why dont you kill all DMB so they dont take over ?

It's bloody fun to report on the DBM to outpost 3 (after getting the mission to attach the scrambler from DBM), then running back to the DBM headquarters. there are several possibilities at that point, and the devs indeed seem to have figured out what most of them could be. My personal favorite was to join in the fight on the side of the monks, making sure at least one of the little buggers stays alive until you kill the DBM guards.

bigbadaboom :)

..and yes, DBM are evil; that map surely bends over backwards to make that clear. just as bad as red skorp.
