I have only found two by stumbling around the map looking for them. There are triggers ingame that give you the locations though, the one north of the citadel is triggered by using the kiss ass response on the raiders at the radio tower. up by darwin completing the underground bit by not killing anything gave me the location of the shrine there (it moved at release). the prison when you move the cart you get given another location and when you save the miners at leve lupe mine you get ye another. that is all the triggers I have found so far though
Shrines give you XP, and are generally very difficult to find if you haven't been given the location.
Statues give you skill points and are always visible w/o any skill check, although they may be in out-of-the-way corners.
All effects can be triggered only once per shrine/statue per game, and only affect those in your party at the time. If your rangers are exported and imported into a new game, they can take advantage of shrines and statues again even if they were activated in a previous game with those same rangers.
