Doctor Larsen - WTH
I must be missing something. He wipes my level 5 party with like 10 attacks per round that do 20 - 30 points per hit. It's pretty clear you're supposed to fight him, but he seems way too tough for my level.

Here is a nice tip I found when I was clearing enemies around him in the room and my sniper accidentally hit him for 40 damage instead of bug or pod person. Larsen stay neutral until you talk to him. To top it off, you can force your rangers to attack him manually and he wont retaliate.

So the easy solution is to blast him with your sniper 2 or 3 times before you talk to him. His HP will be low and you should be able to kill him when your guys go next.

Dr Larsen is only 3 years old, hardly qualifies as an old guy. Or a guy. Or even mostly organic. If you use perception on him your party will notice there's something really, really wrong with "Dr Larsen".

If you don't investigate enough you're going to get blindsided bad near the end of the game. There's a lot of foreshadowing.

I'm sitting in a pool of my own blood with multiple bullet wounds in my body.

It'd be a shame if I hoovered a yardstick of coke and smoked a boulder of meth before jumping to my feet and shooting you 7 times.

Especially if I gave you the false impression I was done with my turn by letting one of you move before I let the coke & meth give me another surge.

It'd also be a shame if you killed me and your whole party was explodified by the IED that is my body.

I just walked by him and ignored him, there's no advantage to fighting him and he's ridiculously powerful.

I finished him in two rounds by blowing him up with pipebombs and dynamites. If your sniper has high enough hit% you can try a gamble and get a head shot in as well to do some extra damage.

I just did this battle without losing anyone...it was super easy? Just spread out your guys and you can kill him in 1 turn...none of my people were level 5 yet either.

Bring a rocket launcher and when you've talked to him run back to the doorway before he goes absolute nuts and let him spend his first round running to you, then you hit him with the rocket/etc. and that way you SHOULD be able to take him out before he takes your whole squad out.

But yes him having the midnight special which only costs 2 AP to fire is a pain in the ass to deal with especially since he IS a boss after all and thus much more tough than the norm. (I play on ranger diff. and boy is it tough as nails!)

Heh, visited there just moment ago and it was quite ... interesting experience. My group was already a bit bad shape and struggling with the amount of ammos. No dynamites, rocket launchers or other explosives.

I left him there at least for now and go back to kill him later if possible.

"Supreme Jerk" feels hard. Just as hard as it should be. My group consist one custom guys and three ready made.

I didn't really have any trouble with him. Killed him on first try, didn't position my characters or anything. I had badly made chars (three premades and one custom) but it was still easy. He attacks a bunch, but with a point blank smg burst, Angela's two hits per round, plus my custom's sniper hit he went down without trouble. Think I only had to revive my weakest char, a medic.

...Now the pod people ambush I just walked into suuuucked. Wasn't expecting it and just told them to run straight to the exit. Second time around with some preparation is fine though.

I had no major problems with him on seasoned. Killed him in 2 or 3 rounds, with no casualties on my side. I'd cleared the Radio Tower and the rest of Ag Center before, but didn't really have much in terms of armor or anything.

Off-topic, but... does anyone know what Safecrack level is needed for the safe in the first room left of this overpowered mad scientist? (In the destroyed Ag Center, if it makes a diff)

I boosted my b&e guy's Safecrack skill to like... 5? and it was still impossible. Talk about a kick in the nuts right after a kick in the ego. X)

Lawson,
Has Midnight Specail a brutally effiecent Handgun.
2 AP per Attack, Pistols have a very high crit rate, and low jam chance. Its entirely fair and withen the bounds of the character generator to make a character just like him. 12 AP and high CI just mean he's pretty high up on CO and Speed.

It's entirely possible for him to kill characters. He should have a high chance of inflicting 30 damage in one shot, if that happens twice to a character they are probably dead. With his CI of 14 he will go way more often than a lot of character builds people roll out with. Essentailly he is an endboss.
