*SPOILERS* Can you save both...
...areas? Highpool and AG.

So, I went to the AG Center and then sometime into it, I lost Highpool. I wasn't sure there was any sort of a clock running.

You can't, it's scripted as such that if you save one you lose the other, you can however ignore both and both locations can fall.

Once you ignore both, you lose both and end up with a cracked story line too. I ignored both at the start because I needed cash for ammo and med kits before I attempted either, I was severely short on ammo, unfortunately the game doesn't give you enough time to build an arsenal, unfortunately I did try also to just go in there with what I had - no luck as I ended up short on ammo and dying.

Nope.

You can't.
I recommend Ag Center. It may be a harder mission, but the people at Highppol are just ♥♥♥♥♥. You save them, get their water running and fix all their stuff and they keep telling you to ♥♥♥♥ off. And not you personally, as if I did something wrong. No, the backstory of Highpool is that they don't like Rangers and you can go ♥♥♥♥ yourself!
Ag Center at least makes you feel like you accomplished something

I think there's about twice as much XP in the AG Centre as there is Highpool as well. That might be hyperbole, but I had an extra 3 levels after running the AG Centre relative to Highpool.

Highpool does that Road Warrior feel to it that, imo, meshes better with the wasteland atmosphere.

It would have been nice if you could split your party and send 3 to Highpool and 2 to the AG Centre (you pick up Rose early so it would be 3 and 3 pretty quick). Even on Supreme Jerk, it wouldn't be too bad to run through either with half a party.

Shouldn't this be marked as a spoiler?

I'm all for choice and consequence, but doesn't this result in locking out a sizeable chunk of the game (per playthrough)? I want the game to be long and meaty. In terms of game content I'd rather have two quest areas to fully resolve than facing the "tough" decision of which to save.

If the game is as packed with content as Divinity: Original Sin which took me 105 hours to finish, this wouldn't be much of an issue, but currently I am concerned about the volume of content in Wasteland 2...

There is already a ton of content in W2 and will be a lot more added upon release. I too have D:OS great game, if you enjoy the Divinity series you won't be disappointed here. So, no being forced to make a choice and pick one or the other doesn't close out a bunch of content to your charcater. Fact is no matter what choices you make your not going to see even 60% of the content in the game with one playthrough no matter what you do. Your rangers, not the Dovakiin, (however, you spell it. not a TES fan, still bent that was focused on rather than Fallout 4), your team isn't going to become little gods able to do everything and anything with little to no effort. So far just playing around on the Beta I have logged in over 70 hours on this, now granted about 20 hours was spent hunting down bugs and sending out reports, but the rest of the time was actually spent playing through the storyline in the various ways, (at least as far as the rail nomads never wanted to go past that till release.) And each and everytime I ran through the opening I was able to do something different. So considering that the Nomads aren't really that far into the storyline, (save an area, set up the radio towers, get access to the Citidel, go to rail nomads, might be missing some stuff, but that covers the basics, and is about 4-6 hours of storyline, give or take an hour.)
Personally I prefer to save Highpool, I get more ammo, I don't get diseased by those stupid plants, and lastly the human body can go a lot longer without food, not so without water. So I tend to save the water, I can always replant, or just start eating bandits. :snaggletooth:

Just curious. I know you can split your party, so is it possible for one group to go to Ag and the other to Highpool? Mission would be much tougher with fewer people, but what if....?

You can not spilt the party on the strategic map, as far as I know and this prevents the atempt to save both. Now it is my understanding you can save Highpool and then head to the AG Cetner and with a high enough outdoorsman skill you can save Kate... have not confirmed this last part myself however.

only 2 draw backs I see for not saving Highpool, is loss of (possibly, I am about to check and see if i can still aquire it) a toaster, and the loss of a character (though Rose is far superior)

Further more, I usually do AG over highpool because highpool seems to think the hired gang they use are better than the rangers, so fk em and let em learn the hard way what happens when you hire mercs who have no idea what they are doing.

Ag center is more enjoyable. I find myself running low on ammo because none of the baddies drop ammo and it makes me alter my playstyle and try and find the best time to use explosives or hold rangers which use more bullets back until things get hairy. My first playthrough i just responded to highpool because they were the ones who asked for help first. I didn't realize i was only going to be able to do one or the other.

I know I am late to the party, but this topic shows up first in google. Let's not forget what main quest is: install repeaters on TWO radio antennas. One of them, be it Ag or highpool, has to be destroyed to push the story forward.
