If you did that I don't think there's any major repercussions, I think some of the Rangers back at the situation will actually say "Oh I heard you took out RSM" etc etc, also I believe you don't get any RSM random encounters after that either.
Use Computer Science skill on the control box computer, then click on the control box and it will move the box cart thing out of the way.
To get into the Prison:
You need to find a Robot track and use it on the robot just outside the range of the turrets. The track is a random loot drop from robots, but remember you need the "Findley" tracks. Robots are found at Abandoned Railway, Radio Tower (if you receive a call from Vargas saying robots have attacked it) and Damonta.
Sorry to bump a slightly old thread, but does anybody know if it's possible to actually peacefully solve the RSM problem at the prison?
I didn't threaten, attack, kill, or otherwise act negatively toward a single Red Scorpion member at any point in my whole playthrough, and barely interacted with anyone other than to acquire the rad suits I was sent there to get.
After I finished the stuff to the east and came back, the RSM still pulled its usual tantrum and took out the villagers around town. What I want to know is...what can I possibly do to stop this from happening, if anything?
Do I have to avoid helping Katy Bowling so that I never even LAY EYES on Pit Bull (I paid him off), and don't talk to anyone in the Prison except Red, or something? :O
RSM are bad guys.
Only thing you can do is kill them.
Or pay the price for their "law".
How much is that? And with all these bugs...I can't enter tough fights that need constant dps thrown out...My weapons kept on jamming(after removing deflective bugged modifcations)...Characters lack skill with better weapons...
Er, actually, it IS possible to resolve it peacefully - many people have reported that they've done it. Now, I have no idea HOW, because the same people never eally go into specifics about how to do any of the things they describe, but considering the sheer volume of people on the inXile forums consistently stating it's possible, I'd say it's definitely in there.
*Probably incorrect spoilers since I was given the option to help but killed those jerks anyway*
I went to the huge farm next to the prison and killed the RSM dudes, and the farmer told me to take out the prison leader or else there'd be issues. I couldn't get past the turrets so I left. When I came back after damonta (with a track) there was a radio transmission from their leader about how we killed some dogs and now he's out for blood. The farmer who wanted me to clear the prison actually killed them with a toxin and you can convince him to give you the antidote. Then talk to the RSM leader at their front gate radio and tell him you can cure the dogs. After that you're let into the prison and their leader tells you he's that kid everyone thought the rangers killed in highpool during Wasteland 1. There are quite a few conversation options so I'd guess it can go down a number of ways.
I couldn't do the kissass options but the hardass options led to me either killing everybody or the RSM calling back their troops and having a truce and they want you to respect their borders or something.
Yeah that part of the game never made much sense to me. And once you get past the hostile Skorpions there's more up in the farm area who are non-hostile.
You can refuse to pay the gun tax, kill VanOverbake, free Pitbull's slaves and kill him(in Rail Nomad), Free the pigs from Jim's farm and kill him along with all the Foremen, and kill every single Red Scorpion you can possibly come across up until the gates with the turrents and still get a peaceful solution worked out(guess it isn't that peaceful by that point, though).
For more info, the turrents are impossible to get past until going to Damonta, they have over 4000 hp and deal hundreds of hp worth of damage with each shot, and there's mines capable of insta-killing a high leveled ranger with full hp in the way preventing just running through too, so you're forced into going to Damonta first before confronting Danforth.
There's a farmer you find in the Prison area that wants Danforth dead, after heading to Damonta he'll have gotten frustrated that you haven't killed Danforth yet and comes up with a half-baked plan to infect the Red Scorpions' guard dogs with a disease to spark a fight between you and Danforth, you have two choices, either get the cure from the farmer and go talk Danforth into letting you in, then curing the dogs, this allows for a peaceful negotiation between Danforth and Vargas, he really just doesn't seem to care about any of the underlings you may have killed by then, just about the health of the dogs.
Or, while still in Damonta, pick up the special Tank Treads item in the crate in the hanger(has unique name and icon) and use it on the bot in front of the turrents, then send it in to destroy the fortifications, this allows you to head in and slaughter Danforth and the rest of the Red Scorpions(who, by now, let's be honest are quite weak after having taken on Slicer Dicers and other much stronger baddies.) .
Honestly, the Red Scorpions are a bunch of thieves, rapists, and murderers hiding under a flag of being the new law in town, by the time you have the chance to calm them down they've already killed every single civilian in their territory anyway, so I'd say wipe them out.
Note: I haven't actually finished the game on a save where I made peace with them, so I couldn't tell you if they fall back into thievery after the deal is made or keep to it, but does anyone care by then? They've done more than enough damage already.
Well put and thanks for the detailed info
