How good will my pc need to be to play this?
I'm very interested in this game, as it looks like a lot of fun; but I'm worried about my pc running it. I'm not quite sure of how to post my specs, so if someone could just give me a ball park comparison it would help a ton.

Well. My 6 year old computer /could/ run it if I got a better video card, requires 512 megs of ram and I only have 256. Planning to upgrade before the game is released.

So the requirements aren't that high.

At least 4 gigs of ram, 64bit OS (windows 7 64, presuming windows), graphics card with at least 512mb but 1024 preferred, CPU made in the last 5 years seem to be the main requirements.

So it'll run on some old desk top with a reasonably recent video card, but not on one of those budget student grade laptops with the integrated graphics cards.

So my computer matches all of that, but I am using a laptop with an integrated graphics card. It runs games like borderlands 2 fine should I be okay? Thanks for the feedback inky!

Should check what graphics card your laptop uses since that's the critical factor, look it up on google. For example, my comptuer runs Crisis 3 fine but has trouble with Kerbal Space Program.

That said I'm really looking forward to this game. It, and Dwarf Fortress, are the two main reasons I'm upgrading my computer.

Ok I checked and I believe it is an Intel(R) hd graphics 4000, which I tried to look up a bit more and is apparently laughable for gaming? I've never had many issues...

Yeah, it's an integrated laptop graphics card. The problem is Wasteland 2 (and Kerbal Space Program) use Unity, which is horrible at memory management. If I remember right, the Intell hd Graphics 4000 has 32 or 64mb of ram. I doubt it'll be able to run a Unity game, my 256mb video card practically chokes on KSP while it runs most other games well enough.

You can also check out your system requirements here. Just match it with any game to get a run-down.

From the main page at store:

Minimum:
OS: Windows 7/8/8.1/XP/Vista (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia 260 GTS or Radeon HD 4850 - 512 MB of VRAM
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card
Recommended:
OS: Windows 7/8/8.1 64bit
Processor: Intel i5 series or equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia 460 GTX / Radeon 5770 - 1 GB of VRAM
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card

Quick lookup on tomshardware gives you the equivalent card list for Intel HD 4000.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

Discrete: 6800 Ultra, 7600 GT, 7800 GS, 8600 GS, 8600 GT (GDDR3), 9500 GT (DDR2)
Go (mobile): 7800 GTX, 7900 GTX
Discrete: X800 XT (& PE), X850 XT (& PE), X1650 XT, X1800 GTO, HD 2600 XT, HD 3650 (DDR3), HD 3670
Mobility: X1900, 3670
Integrated: 6520G, 6530D, 7480D
Integrated: Intel HD Graphics 4000

That's actually pretty bad. To give you a difference in scale you can use
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/

Intel HD Graphics 4000 scores : 456
Radeon HD 4850 scores :1,037
GeForce GTX 260 scores : 1,120

I wouldn't chance it if I were you. Your video is 2X slower than minimum, if you go off benchmark scores. I'm not saying you won't be able to run it at all by lowering settings, I do not know, but... see first sentence in this paragraph.

Good luck.

Ok after reading what Times and Veryinky have posted, I'm thinking I probably won't chance it then. The only last hesitance I have is that I tried the link Petalhearts posted and its apparently a website I used to use to check games nad completely forgot about. It says that I meet all of the Reccomended requirements to play Wasteland 2? I'lm sorry this is taking so long but all of the help is much appreciated.

Also I believe I might have messed up on checking my graphics card at some point. Is it the same as a Video card? If so then what I have is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M. What I posted was my display device which I must have gotten mixed up somewhere. I'm sorry for posting the wrong info.

Yeah, video card = graphics card. You can run the game. Apparently your laptop has two graphics cards, an integrated (backup, useful for running word or excel) one and a dedicated graphics card (geforce gt 640M, which is good for games)
times05 Jun 20, 2014 @ 11:30am
You should be fine with 640M.

i5-i7 CPUs come with built in Intel HD graphics (for example my i7-2600k processor comes with Intel HD 3000 on the processor itself). Meaning they don't have to use discrete video card, but it is a lot better when they do. Less load on processor, doesn't share system memory (also video card memory is A LOT faster than your regular RAM), and so on. Intel graphics actually aren't all that horrible in practice. I disabled my video card once (literally pulled it out) and played Planetside 2 on very low settings using Intel HD 3000. Looked ugly, but totally playable. And that game can be pretty demanding. Sorry I'm rambling, you have a 640M so it doesn't really apply to you.

Well thanks everyone for the help then :D Looks like I'll be picking this up the next chance I get!

Beta (as of June 20th, 2014) runs ok on 'Moderate' graphic settings on an Intel HD 4000 on an Core i5 2.6 ghz laptop with 4gb of memory... it'll run on the top settings as well, but at a very low frame rate. To be honest though, it doesn't look that much different even with the highest settings. Still has full texture res etc...
