It needs to be said: the character customization SUCKS.
It needs more work than any other aspect of the game.

I won't comment on the qualitative or quantitative aspects of the game, but if you're going to have customizable 3D models and portraits in a game, then there is one thing that is absolutely vital and necessary: we need to be able to re-create (all of) the portrait characters with the 3D models.

It seems like there was zero communication between artists and modelers here, because as far as I can tell NONE of the model assets (heads, armor, hair, faces, etc.) match ANY of of the portraits.

And that's a huge problem.

Yeah: I know the game is in development and everything is subject to change and improvement--but there's not much time left, ya' know! And this has been a problem since day 1.

Click "Used Customized Character" underneath the portrait. It will take a screencap of your current custom model. If you export the character, it will save to the image pool. They don't look as spiffy as the hand drawn art, but it's accurate.

If you save your character, you can access their picture files and replace them with pictures you like better.

That's ignoring the problem, not fixing it.

And even if we ignore it, there are other problems--like the enormous lack of variety, inability to change hair color, and inability to zoom in at all on the characters.

I have no doubt more will get added between now and release. Honestly, having all the game systems working together well and all the skills doing what they should is more important, along with content / polish.

Having more options for character customization (like gear that changes looks based on new armor you put on, etc.) would be a nice touch later.

Its a valid complain, but i agree with Palad1n. That is something that probably wont be high on the list for a while.

I could care less! this is all frivolous. You must be into tatoos body piercing and ironed neatly ironed dresses.

It is not important to the gameplay or graphics at all. Just like my computer case is not important to how will my rig runs games.

If there's anything worse than poor grammar, it's an armchair grammarian wagging their self-satisfied finger in your face.

I think armchair grammarians are performing a public service. Posting a video to do the work is probably a step too far.

Despite the video it's always worth pointing out how "special" it is to declare that you "could" care less.

However I suspect the people who say it couldn't care less about how dumb they sound.

Do you smell it? It's the smell of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC that greedy company will release one week after they finally launch their unfinnish and unpolished game.... Hair color pack 5.99 euros ! Oh yeah !

I did the beta version wich ended at the prison door. There is some potential but it's doesn't worth above 20 euros even with ten times more content. Period.

I don't know if it is a huge problem but I would like to have assets based on the pictures :D

Please go there and click on the Unity button. There you will see that some of the artwork has been optioned out to the community. Steam is not the main page for wasteland. Its just the steam page. As for who all added and contributed what, we won't know for certain untill release and we can view the credits and thank you's. :snaggletooth:
