pillars of eternity, Fallout 2, Baldurs gate 2, basically any cRPG
The Cure May 15, 2016 @ 11:56am
Divinity Original Sin, Hard West (a bit lighter on RPG mechanics), and I've heard good things about Shadowrun.

Shadowrun is good and has a very similar turn based combat system. I like shadowruns better.

I'll definitely try Pillars of Eternity but I'm waiting for higher discounts. When it comes to Fallout and Baldur's Gate I've finished them in the past. I'm wondering if I should try Baldur's Gate EE?
I do have Divinity Original Sin but I didn't play it yet. Hard West has been added to my wishlist.
Shadowrun is not my thing, I don't like cyberpunk.
Thanks for all suggestions ;)

Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete is awesome for squad based combat, albeit it's in a high magic fantasy universe, unlike Wasteland 2. The interesting thing about NWN2 is that some of the older content such as Pools of Radience and Baldur's Gate has been remade into modules for the newer 3D engine... So if you like BG at all, there's alot of play value there.

And if you end up liking NWN, you may like Icewind Dale.

@Leiana Nova
Thanks, I didn't know someone converted Baldur's Gate using NWN2 engine... I've played Starcraft 1 this way and it was great so I'm definitely gonna check it out!

@The Cure
I've played Icewind Dale in the past, is it worth checking this new Enchanced Edition?

Thanks for all suggestions ;)

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is great. Not as large a game as this, but it's the third, most polished entry in its trilogy. You don't need to play the other two titles to understand it. (Figured I'd clarify.)

Fallout 1 was a spiritual successor to the original Wasteland with many of the key developers and themes.

Also agree with those mentioning the Shadowrun games. Recently finished them, great fun and a real throwback to late 90s CRPGs! I'd stick with the three developed by Hare Brained Schemes (Base Shadowrun, Dragonfall & Hong Kong) though as I've heard Boston Lockdown isn't nearly as good.

Hard West has a similar western feel to Wasteland 2 and I like how it uses luck to distinguish characters.

I've tried to play Shadowrun Returns but I don't like cyberpunk... Hard West has been added to my wishlist.

Thanks for all suggestions ;)
If you aren't aware, GOG has a bunch of these type of games on sale right now. Pillars of Eternity is going for $18, and there are bundles for other CRPGs at $15 and whatnot.

Your profile obviously doesn't show much of your preferences, 0.2H in WL2DC, 0H in WL2, and you finished it. You should highlight what you enjoyed in it, there's no CRPG relatively similar and not too old.

Pillars of Eternity, D:OS and Dragonfall are rather bad suggestions if you consider their strong points are rather different than strong points of WL2. For PoE it's even worse because it's real time combats and it's not pauses that will make them turn based.

Not knowing what you like in WL2DC it's hard to say but some bet:
  • Hard West is an indie CRPG in fact much closer to new XCOM than to WL2. I still have to finish it and play it more, but it's a worthy pick if you want tricky combats, much less from the CRPG point of view.

  • Underrail is less far to FO1&2 than to WL2, but as FO1&2 it worth be suggested because of the post apocalypse context. I don't see any true indie CRPG in your profile and this sub category involve various flaws. If you can bother this sub category then you should give a try to Underrail. It's a mix of great and weak but overall it's among the CRPG released last years I found the most interesting. My current Steam review of the game is negative because of the last part, but it's a very long CRPG and it's just last part. It's still a pure indie CRPG, a ton of work and designs in it, but also many weak parts or aspects. I suggest read a bit of basic guides on character building before play it, I didn't and it made this last part worse to play.

  • Fallout 1&2 are fairly good advices, but you won't get true party combats and overall there's many differences with WL2. If you played only FO2 and gave up on the series, I suggest you strongly to give a try to FO1, even if it's definitely the same series, it's rather different too.

I don't see anything else to suggest if you don't explain more what you enjoyed in WL2.

You can also try pick some among my list of >turn based< CRPG I preferred... if you believe you are a lucky guy. :-)
Fallout 1
Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut (did you really played this one? Or just gave up on Hong Kong or SR Return? Dragonfall is much better than both)
Divinity Original Sin
Wasteland 2
Might & Magic X (not combats on a grid)
Eschalon Book 3
Blackguards 2
Underrail
Shadowrun Returns
Antharion
Blackguards 1
Loren The Amazon Princess (not combats on a grid)
Avadon 1
Avernum 1
Lords of Xulima (not combats on a grid)
Eschalon Book 1&2
Avadon 2 (bigger but too many low quality fillers in comparison of the 1)
Expeditions: Conquistador
Heroes of Steel RPG (worth play a part, not to finish it, it's huge anyway)
Telepath Tactics (just for the combats alas)

If you already have Divinity: Original Sin, just start playing that. It's FANTASTIC.

@Brian C.
I don't use GoG ;)

@Dorok
I've finished Wasteland 2 DC in offline mode. I don't know what did I like the most... main story was good but some side quests were even better, tbs fights were nice, character development was fine (simple but satisfying), post-apocalyptic world was good too.
Thanks for the list... I see that I already have Expeditions: Conquistador so I'll give it a try, I hope my 9600GT can handle it...

@HFM
I would play it if I had better GPU :) I'm running 9600GT now :\
