Which spells are most effective?
Fire effects "living" enemies more than electricity, yes?
Or is electricity the answer to everything in this game?

Try EX-Railgun when you get it. You can thank me later.

I plan to, but generally speaking which elements are effective against common enemies? Fire for humans and necros, electricity for robots and church guards?
it doesn't matter, just use whatever you like, most enemies die in 1-2 spell shots if you have enough SPR. i'm running counter field and flameJet build it's hilarious af

I'm not even sure there's a system where an element is better against some enemy type. It just does a set amount of damage.

Church guys take more damage from fire. Necro take more from lightning.
I've only tested it using weapon buffs against church guard. It makes sense since they're two opposing factions using those elements against each other. And their respective armors also have deficit in resistance against fire for Clergy Robe and electricity for Corrupted Blader Armor, so there's that. It's more of a fun tidbit rather than a concrete proof though.

That's what I figured at first, but I didn't really feel any difference after using whatever element against each faction. Good to know that there is indeed a weakness system, though.
A shame there is no burning or paralysis effect. Piercing/bleed is still the best, imo.

The game quite literally explains the mechanic by telling you the opposite of what you've said here for Necros. Did you swap it around, or was the game lying?
church guards take most dmg from necro spells (the one with red background)
Missile barrage, for a couple of reasons

  • It staggers enemies pretty easily
  • It takes some time for the missiles to reach the target, giving you time to capitalise on the stagger
  • It has insane tracking, even if the enemy teleports
  • It hit enemies even if they grab you, meaning it can interrupt a grab attack even while mid animation (saved me from hunter of blader's grab)

I guess the easiest way to test is to apply Ignition and Electrification and test each type of enemies. Not sure which should be the lab rats though.

As for spell I use Lightning Bolt most of the time. Mostly because it is unhindered by terrain. Then switch to Trailblazer's Oath or EX-Railgun in boss fights.

No clue what you're talking about, post screenshot of that explanation?
Here you can see lightning buff dealing 10 more damage than fire buff to standard necro grunt at minimum 15 spirit.

It was either dialog, something to read, or a loading screen but I saw it in the second area of the game. I can for sure say that I saw it, but I admit that I can't guarantee I remember what it says correctly. I mean really, isn't it usually that robots are weak to electricity and flesh to fire?

I went back to the area to try to find it, but annoyingly once you clear an area the NPCs disappear so I couldn't even check them. Even the Mud ball guy next to where you get the Tin Can helmet will disappear after resting once you give him a Noise Tape.

Railgun EX. Wrecks humanoid enemies, which are what most of the hardest late-game bosses are.

Don't sleep on an Etherial Orb.
It's capable of staggering giant enemies and absolutely demolishes everything smaller.
Including bosses.

10/10 It's orbing time.
