"Leave, please"
In the maintenance access area, there is a platform that I can fall onto. I find a door there with a man that asks me to leave.

However, it appears that the only way to leave there is to leap to my demise.

Is there a non-lethal exit from that platform that I overlooked?

Not entirely sure exactly where you're talking about, but if I remember right you should just be able to jump to get back across? If its that guy sitting down behind a door anyways.
Hello, I don't remember this bit but if you're ever stuck somewhere and don't wanna lose nothing, use the branch. It's the blue item in your inventory. It's basically coil from the start (DS3 ref).
Where it is: It is just after killing the white mechanical sentinel, where we usually proceed to traverse the pipe.

How to fall onto the platform: There's a box there covering a gap. That gap leads to the man that asks us to leave.

I tried standing with my back toward the edge and then press the space bar, but that didn't make me jump just far enough. But, except for taking a small leap back, I never had any actual jump that takes her to any heights, actually.

Yeah indeed. It was, however, only relatively late in the game that I realized that I had it. I'm like level 53 now, and only an hour ago I accidentally found it in my bags, when I browsed my inventory for items to sell.

Lets say you are using Keyboard & Mouse, if you use Space to sprint, you can quickly repress Space while sprinting to jump when moving in the direction. This would get you across the gap.

you have to jump. Which is completely unintuitive.

You start to sprint, then press left joystick. Just like in Dark souls 3
anyone knows if it is possible to open that door there somehow? even after finishing the game going just before the final fight there and the woman still says the monsters are still alive and she does not open the door. is it a easter egg or something?
i don't think you could ever open that door, it's just a lore / world settings moment (the people here prefer hiding instead of becoming necros' dinner

If it's the door at the location I mentioned, it did open for me. That's where I found a desperate dude who asked me to leave before I attracted unwanted attention of foes.
