• Use Pierce weapons because that'll often stagger him out of the big attacks
• The big whirlwind attack when he teleports to the centre can be dodged by sprinting directly away from him to the outskirts of the arena
• You won't dodge the six tracking balls attack if you dodge too early or just sprint, wait until the first one is nearby and dodge horizontally
• When he hits approx 1/3rd HP he'll teleport to the centre for a big attack, and after that phase change he will always heal after the next teleport. So sprint towards the new location and start your weapon skill before he even spawns in to stagger him out of it
• It's not obvious at first if you don't know much about Souls or Soulslikes, but "explosion" attacks and lingering special effects (that aren't continuous beams or multihit attacks like whirlwinds) won't hurt you if you dodge the actual damaging part. Meaning if you dodge them you're often free to stand inside the giant lightning effects during the entire explosion and recovery.
As for normal bosses, it's hard to say without talking about a specific one or just going into basic combat advice. Mainly just learn how to Dodge + Parry and which bosses you should dodge or parry, you'll be fine with just those two skills.
Also after encountering them again in the endgame area a second ago I just realised that I mixed up the Pardoner with the Choir Inspector so most of that doesn't help him. My bad. I guess Parrying and Dodging towards his scythe are the best bits of advice.
Run well away and then run sideways on phase change.
fire is weaksauce.
lightning also weak asf.
poison is nice i really like the thrown daggers, you can throw them to stop some boss abilities, which helps with your chase boss.
some of the spells are neat though. if they don't take a year to go off and you can potentially be knocked outta the ability. the mobs are too active for the spells and abilities to take so long. feels like you really lose out unless the monster literally cannot respond to the attack.
