Ore Bell

So, I found a group of pilgrims where I am supposed to use the Ore Bell, but summoning the mass murdering weirdo sounds like a bad idea. What are the consequences, if any, of not using the bell? Will I miss out on interesting story?

It just seems like using it must be a requirement for a bad ending.

My guess it's an optional boss. Because he clearly wants to fight you.

I looked it up, three different sources claim doing his quest won't affect the ending so I'd say it's safe to go ahead and do it.

On a side note, right across from that place there is a portal, does anyone know how to get to it? i haven't found a way yet
