For example a regular 4 hit combo with a one handed weapon has a large vulnerability window after the fourth hit as your character recovers from the animation. Rather than recover, switch weapons after the fourth hit to simply extend the combo.
Without a second weapon your combo is as follows:
hit>hit>hit>hit>recover/reset hit>hit>hit>hit>recover/reset
With a second weapon, say a greatsword, your combo is as follows:
hit>hit>hit>hit>switch>hit>hit>hit>switch>hit>hit>hit>hit>switch etc. etc. Each weapon switch is an attack in itself.

I don't see the point, but to each their own I guess. The frame is your parry, shield, damage buff and an empowered dodge depending on what you set it to.
