Honest thoughts
To be brief, I liked the demo and think the game does fine on the atmosphere, level design and gameplay, but I just wouldn't care to buy it.

It's just too unoriginal. I hoped that having the MC be voiced could bring something new, but she's got nothing of value to say and the delivery is flat as a plank.

The monsters are generic anime aliens and gameplay-wise they're just copies of DS enemies.

The NPCs are typical Souls-ian madmen, the only other anime girl literally just says "go explore" and dips out.

The synch system seems interesting and maybe could be expanded on, but all it means right now is that you have a limited ranged weapon, no stamina and your damage varies if you overuse the super moves. It's fun and what got me through to the end, but I don't know if it alone would carry it.

It's weird that the game doesn't have the soul recovery mechanic? You just lose a flat half of your current souls. Might be an only-demo thing.

The actual game could be more interesting than the demo, but I don't think it will surprise any long-term DS players.

Combat is something that stops me from buying it. It feels so weird, clunky. Cannot dodge mid-attack, and dodging also feels so broken. Especially if an enemy uses a sweeping attack.
I assume I'm the exception then. Long time ds enjoyer - up until after bloodborne miyazaki started recycling instead of innovating - and I had a good time with this demo.

But who would have thought that two different people have differing opinions?

That's why you dodge at the right moment. If that bothers you then play the nu god of war games. You can dodge there ahead of time and enemies still miss.

As for it being clunky... Idk. I think the overall gameplay is good but I understand why it might turn off some people. I for one enjoy methodical combat design.

Dark Souls Series, Hellpoint, and few more. They all work great, but in AI Limit.....i dunno. It´s weird.

Would like to know more about what you think is weird. Not trolling. Genuinely curious as I don't mind when people criticize something I like
Coming off of 600 hours of Elden Ring (and 100+ hours in Dark Souls 1, Sekiro and Bloodborne). I was actually very surprised how much I enjoyed the demo. Sure it's different and the input buffering is insane, but it kind of sort of works because you have infinite stamina. I was kept engaged throughout and was motivated enough to beat the challenge boss.

Those pipe-wielding enemies. Then they charge, i dodge, animation misses me completely, but i still get fully hit. Sometimes i got teleported back to the tip of the pipe. And then their swinging attack, i dodge, sometimes i get hit, sometimes not. Dunno, someting feels bugged in terms of hit-box / i-frames (if there are any)

Let's hope they fix it until release. I didn't encounter it but it's not too far from the truth considering it's a pre release demo

the combat is about the same as code vain then ?
Honestly, the game isnt bad overall. Has a lot of wierd gimmicks to learn and i have a few minor gripes but it's an enjoyable romp for the most part. If im going to list any issues personally for me it would be the following.

Many enemies, mainly the necros, have what i like to call the Elden Ring Randomness. They tend to have very long attack patterns that take a fair bit to end. Fight something like the two torso-ed necro blade guys or the yellow flame blade robots and you'll get faked out and clipped a fair bit.

Some bosses have very wierd gimmicks. Im gonna avoid spoilers for the most part but there is a boss similar to bed of chaos, where the difficulty of the fight is just reaching the thing. It has a long, narrow hallway with holes in the ground with a wind wave that I personally have never been able to see the dodge tell for, which knocks you into the abyss. Admittedly you can take this gimmick down a notch if you get help from a certain NPC, but when you are meant to hide behind them to avoid the wind and they MOVE away mid wind blast, it gets irritating.

Its also somewhat confusing to organically navigate the world after a certain point. You WILL end up needing a guide at some point since a lot of areas are so off the beaten path that even if you're a souls vet, you'll likely miss em .

Also. For the most part the music isnt really all that memorable. It does its job passibly and fits the tone, but there's no tune that really stays with you.

I still recommend the game despite its flaws as its a good experience and incredibly affordable in comparison to other similar games.

I definitely enjoyed the game, it's a good souls-like, the only thing I would complain are design decisions about basic abilities (why isn't block and parry on one button? why isn't thunder dodge simply an upgrade to normal dodge?) and spells (only one spell slot?)

Giving bosses some small unique mechanic (even if it's a bit annoying) is a positive to me, at least they're memorable.
There was demo for this? Well it disappeared. Easy skip then if I can't see for myself before dumping $$$ (yes I'm aware of refund but Steam hates people that refund because reasons). How am I supposed to find out if I like the game or not (no, watching people play is not the same lol).
So... how is it compared to, say, Khazan?

To each of your points (besides demo), :

1. Agreed it does fine on atmosphere and level design; for gameplay I care less for another souls-like making high skill-and-study cap replaying with harsh penalties and encounters compulsory - as a normal casual player with not that much to prove or a great interest in "getting gud" to such extent over fun and I guess, a simpler pleasure.

2. original I don't mind because there isn't an infinite pool of revelatory ideas like that but rather all /most games hang over similar structural\thematic premises. But it's okay to give a nod to NieR I mean -no rules against mentioning it with honor somewhat more overtly.

3. Yes - the monsters/enemies are like DS because that was a popular thing to imitate (which I now think is dated in favor of more balancedly enjoyable games with smoother forms of challenge and fascination.)

4. I don't necessarily mind the spareness of dialogue as it matches the sparse atmosphere, and; along with the protaganist's minimal voice acting creates a certain disoriented derangedness which actually quite works:- Found that much tranquil and evocative.

5. I liked to see the simple sync and mud system …

6. I think we need to break away from soulslike after soulslike being the only games to look cool and not, that much ..actually be. *Ahem*Elden Ring,--*ahem* Dark Souls,

– however ; You see this game getting a little too much bashing cos it's majorly the sickest-looking thing in a while┉Hope it's remembered as a good attempt or sequels less soulslike.
