Is AI Limit like any other Souls games?
I would like to know if AI Limit has the same style of storytelling and characters like the other games in the genre. I enjoy a good story and some good characters, usually it keeps me motivated to finish the game, and so far Souls-like games struggle in these areas a lot with their obscure plotlines and bland characters. I tried playing the demo of AI Limit and I was bored out of my mind after doing nothing but fighting monsters and leveling up. I like the atmosphere of the game but damn I can't find any motivation here to grind and defeat bosses.

Did you play Code Vein? Seems like not.
I am not sure yet, because demo is short and here is nothing groundbreaking story wise.

Is Code Vein better in terms of storyline and characters? I never played it, just heard a few things here and there.

Much better, but you need to collect memory video fragments for each character to understand everything. And enjoying at max potential.
Still, even main plot is like watching anime. Not to mention that you have team and own base/shelter. These things non existant in souls.
CV is about to make future brighter. Souls...dunno. To stay in dead world, maybe.

It could be argued that the people in Firelink etc. are a base/shelter. They provide services to you and tell you about the world in a safe environment.

But yeah, concur Code Vein had pretty interesting characters & storylines.

You really should give Code Vein a shot. It's a really fun game.

If you want to hear 1 hours speech before and after an encounter, then just watch an anime, man

I don't want to hear 1 hour speeches in games, I just want to feel immersed in the world, and I can't feel that way without good characters and story. I appreciate that souls games have less cutscenes and a lot of gameplay, it reminds me of the good old days of gaming, but this should not come at the expense of the other elements of a game that are just as important. Look at Nier:Automata for example: there is also a dying world filled with robots, but the story is easy to follow and there are also other characters that you interact with which give life to an otherwise hopeless landscape. This is what I want, a balance of the elements that make a game memorable.

We didn't see a full game yet, how can you judge a story line and world by a short demo?

Yes, there are other terrible 'souls' games

I always judge a book by its cover, and so far this game looks like every other souls game I've seen: we're dropped in the story out of nowhere and we have no idea who we're playing as, we meet this tall anime girl and we also don't know anything about her, everyone have this blank expresion on their faces and emotionless voice like they're on the verge of killing themselves. We kill monsters and bosses but we also don't know anything about them. There are notes scattered in the tunnels, but those don't explain pretty much anything. Everything is obscure, hopeless and bleak, and I just can't be bothered to care what happens next in the story.

It's true that this is a demo and the final release might be different, but with I've seen so far, I'm not holding my breath. If a game doesn't hook me in the first 2 hours, I don't expect it to hook me later on, and like I said, good combat is not enough to make me care about the world or any of its characters.

So, just skip it, what's the problem?

There is no problem; I posted here because I wanted to hear news about this game regarding its story and characters. The demo was released last year and plenty of time has passed so I was hoping that someone would have additional information about the game. I don't want to skip it just yet, after all, like you said, this is just a demo; the full release might be different.

Code Vein definitely has more of a focus on story, but I and a few other friends found the story, gameplay, and zones to be pretty weak. You're mileage may vary on that game, but it looks like the more interested in anime you are, the more likely you are to enjoy it.

I thought there was too much exposition which some anime tends to go overboard with.

Even though I would never recommend Code Vein in normal means, because I think it is hands down bad. It sounds like you actually want the story aspect. I think the story was very subpar and boring, There are a lot of added elements in Code Vein to revolve around the story, which I don't think was executed well, but everyone else does. During these moments i was "Bored out of my mind doing nothing" but it seems like that may be something you need in a souls like to keep you going. Which isn't judgement just kinda interesting those are more motivations/interests.

Other Souls-likes that have more story elements is:
- Black Myth Wukong
- Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
- Lords of the Fallen
- Sekiro
- Lies of P

(Order from Top (More story) to bottom (Less))

Coming up The First Berserker: Khazan, it seemed to have more story elements going for it. (Same release date as AI Limit and has a demo)

I just finished the AI Limit demo and I think it will be a traditional souls-like through and through. Only thing different in regards to story were memories you could find but those were one liners that were 2 seconds long, lmao.

im here becouse it gives me blame! vibes. i guess souls game wise that would mean bleak faith needs to be mentioned here.
