Demo Review (Steam Deck)
Just finished the demo. I'm not gonna go into story or performance, since not everybody has the same rig. (I'm not particularly interested in the story anyway).

It took about 4 hours (that should tell how bad I am at games like these). First thing; a map would be nice. If you can teleport between different branches, maybe there should be one. Especially if this is supposed to be a more 'forgiving' type of souls-like anyway.

Second, I had an issue with spells not working with the 'classic' control scheme. It would work on action, but not classic; so I ended up not using it.

I know the game is translated from another language, but it would be nice if some of the leveling stats were clearer. The description for leveling Strength and Technique were the exact same and dumped points into the same things.

The auto lock-on doesn't seem to work or is misrepresented. I assumed it meant that it would lock on to the nearest enemy after you killed one, but I had to manually lock on each time. Also, during the Lore boss fight, when he goes into his second form, you have to manually lock on again. That's pretty annoying.

Jumping is pretty useless; I only had to use it once to get the Lower Reservoir to fight the floating Red Demon. Other than that, it's not really needed.

Also, if you wanted to use the 'action' control scheme, but change 2-3 buttons, it's not that simple. You have to go to 'custom' and change almost all the buttons because it defaults to the 'classic' set. I thought about using action in the beginning and changed my mind when I realized that.

Back-stabbing is a thing, but only if you sneak up on an enemy. You're fast enough that you can walk behind one once they spot you, so I think you should still be able to do it even after they notice you.

Those are my biggest complaints. Other than that, the voice acting is fine, music's ok, there were minor lighting issues (sometimes it was way to dark). Sometimes the enemy health bar would stay stuck on-screen. It's just an anime-souls-like, so I wasn't expecting much. If they decide to improve on the demo or this is released less than $40 retail, maybe i'll give it another go. Right now i'm on the fence. I enjoyed it enough to see it to the end, so who knows.

I'd like to hear other peoples experiences though. Thanks for indulging me.

By the way; on Steam Deck, I got about ~30fps low 720p. Docked ~40fps low 1080p.
