Got over it, but no reward (kinda my fault though)
I just reached the top for the first time yesterday evening and got the steam achievement to prove it. However, after the credits were finished my Firewall announced an unknown outgoing connection. I have set those to be immediately blocked due to a malware I once caught that connected to the web and downloaded a bunch of other stuff, simply bypassing the Windows Firewall without it reacting at all. Been using SphinxSoftware Windows 10 Firewall Control ever since and it's been a really helpful tool until now.

Since it blocked access to the reward server (or whatever it's called :P), I just got a screen telling me the server was unavailable and that I should email Bennett. Well, no point in that since the connection problem was on my end.

I'm not mad (seriously!), all that means for me is that I'll have to get over it once more, which I'm certain I can do now that I did it once. But might a suggest a slight change to that screen for a future version, including a "Retry" button for cases like mine? Once I had allowed access to the server for this separate zfgamebrowser.exe file, the connection should have worked fine, but there was no way for me to tell that to the game so it would try again. Instead, I only could return to the main menu without having seen the reward screen.

So yeah, I'm off now, trying to get over it! ;)

There's no feeling more intense than starting over?

Yikes pc gamers should know to always turn off firewalls etc unless they accidentally clicked a phish link

windows firewalls will always mark gaming related things as "potential risk" im not saying op should turn off reliable anti-viruses/antimalware
so many threads where people cannot play steam games simply because their firewall blocked a file or such

Congrats on getting over for the first time anyway! How long did it take you to do it you first time? Also thanks for letting me know to turn off my firewall for the first time. I'd hate to have that happen to me in this lol

Took me about 7 hours of gameplay. I had somewhat of an advantage though, having watched Markiplier do it on youtube first, so I kinda knew how to do each part.

The hardest part for me was the rocky cliffs just past the orange. I fell down again so many times trying to get up that final steep rock... Once I finally managed to get up to the church tower, I got through the rest relatively easy. Getting up the bucket was tricky again, but unlike the rocky cliff, at least the player isn't immediately punished by a big loss of progress if they miss it as long as they steer clear of the snake lol.

I agree with TheGamesGamer, please don't give advice when you clearly don't know what you are saying. Windows firewall gives you a chance to make an educated decision about what connections you want or don't want to permit, which is great. "Switching off all firewalls" indiscriminately is a terrible advice. If you for example do not run a webserver (most people don't on their gaming PC), there is really no reason you should accept connections on ports 80 and 443, and even if some malware opens an illegal webserver as a part of some botnet, for example, thanks to a properly setup firewall, it won't be accessible anyway. Or if you limit outgoing SMTP connection only to the smarthost of your ISP, you will prevent possible spam waves being launched from your IP in case you get infected, et cetera.

My advice is - whatever you do, do not blindly disable security measures just because you want to play some game! Educate yourself, and make good decisions instead!

Ive had my firewall off for years and nothing happened. I played games where it worked fine, only to see countless threads of "exe not working" where the solution is to turn off the firewall
I have anti-viruses/antimalware which is keep active but since these are more accurate, they never interfere with games unlike the default firewall where any file can be suspicious and god forbid someone that uses mods in singleplayer
I also didnt say "switch of all firewalls" only the default windows 10 ones. If op has their own anti-virus software then using that is twice as reliable and wont cause issues like what occured in the op

That's a paradox though, because the issue I had (which wasn't really an issue since it works fine once I allow the connection through) happened with a third party software, not the Windows Firewall.
I agree that the windows internal thing is pretty useless. But I would still never switch it off completely, since any extra layer of security, however thin, is just that: An extra layer of security.

The guy's a troll. He's been in like 500 arguments on all sorts of discussion pages.

Right. You have no argument, you know I'm right. So you focus on one word I said and point out that, by the official definition, I technically misused it. Cool cool.

Just because you're angry at the world for giving you a tiny penis, doesn't mean that you should get angry online and act tough 😔 It's just sad.

Well, trust the current teenage generation (which you clearly are based on the penis comment - further displaying the overall quality of your argument) to over-exaggerate and use buzz words just to get attention.

Amusing that you somehow linked 'anger' as the emotion behind my comment. So you're incapable of using basic words correctly, incapable of identifying emotion.. Feel free to actually spend this newly found time (from the delay) in school and develop healthy social interactions, not to mention a form of education.

People who have something else going on in their lives don't ignorantly kick and scream over a game delay as you have. It's why no-one (in this forum and likely real life) will take you seriously.

All the best though.

Says the kid whos too young to play most steam games
