[Updated Jan 6 2022] Version 1.7 is LIVE
Release notes:

v1.7
Korean subtitles had gotten broken in the last update, now fixed. Sorry for that! 죄송합니다!
As always the previous version 1.6 is available from the 'betas' tab in Steam.

v1.6
- Big compatibility update to new version of Unity, should help the game to run on newer hardware (including Apple M1) and also produce smoother gameplay
- small change to the shape of the pot collider that should reduce the incidence of the pot unexpectedly gripping to the world, especially on slopes. I tested this with the speedrunning community, seems it shouldn’t have a major impact on feel, just make the game a tiny bit more consistent.
- finally fixed the rare save game bug, I hope
- finally fixed the perf issue with the particles near the antenna
- couple of extra little spots where the hammer could get stuck (barrel and toilet) fixed
- fix an issue where going from back to the settings menu would revert language to English
- maybe a couple other things, I forget

Previous version as always are available from the 'betas' tab in Steam (pw: nakedmaninapot)

v1.599

Put a new version on the testing branch (password: 'nakedmaninapot' as always). Go to the 'betas' tab in steam to enter the password.

This release addresses three minor issues:
- a longstanding bug where saves were deleted sometimes on some people's computers (my new computer is affected by the bug, which finally allowed me to identify a fix)
- speedrunners were requesting that I stop the game clock when the credits roll, instead of on the endscreen.
- extra safety colliders in a few more areas where the hammer would get stuck, like the chimney and in the approach to furnitureland.
- probably some extra compatibility issues solved by upgrading to a newer version of Unity LTS.

If there aren't too many fresh issues reported I'll set it live on the main branch sometime next week.

v 1.59

This update is mostly a maintenance update to ensure ongoing compatibility with new OS versions and drivers, but it also fixes some lingering bugs.

- Possible fix for folks whose computers were writing corrupted save files. If you have problems of this kind, please make sure AVG is not preventing the game from writing to the registry.
- Fix for the occasional situation where low frame rate would result in you being inside a rock on load.
- Reward screen should now work on Linux (please let me know if you see any issues - I don’t have a linux box)
- Added a manual vsync setting for folks who asked for it
- Hitching should be reduced by using a less memory-heavy collision processing scheme.
- Performance should see a slight increase globally
- Hopefully improved performance near the shopping cart.
- Ultrawide monitors now handled properly. This means letterboxing/pillarboxing on anything other than 16:9 or 16:10 - I didn’t make the art in the world wide enough to support a 21:9 view, and I want you to see it as I composed it. Please let me know if there are any problems there though.
- Increased volume of distant ambient sounds
- By request, bats make sound even on subsequent runs, but it should be very quiet (and you can mute them)

As usual, quit and restart Steam if you need the build now. And if you need an older build - you can get them under the 'betas' tab in Steam, again using password 'nakedmaninapot'.

1.5861
Mostly the point of this update is to add Linux compatibility, although I rolled in the latest Unity bugfixes on all platforms as well.

1.584
This is mostly a compatibility and performance update with a few changes people had been asking for
- upgraded Unity to long-term-support version, fixes a number of platform bugs and performance issues
- game should load a lot faster now
- reduced CPU usage for ambient sounds
- added some safety colliders to prevent hammer getting stuck
- fixed a bug where some numbers would not display in Japanese
- return to Metal on macs for huge additional performance boost
- bats are now on regular SFX channel, meaning they will mute with other sounds
- for speedrunners added ctrl-r to restart level (still needs to reload the scene, to avoid abuse)
- reward scene fixed for ultrawide monitors, somewhat
- remove analytics to comply with new European law

1.5762
- accidentally made the snake rainbow colored. Whoops. While I’m at it, improved performance of snake rendering a bit.
- speedrun community asked me to make it so you can skip credits with the space bar as well as escape (to avoid triggering pause accidentally)

1.5761. Had some real trouble making a version of this patch that didn't cause major problems, but I think it's finally ok. I'm just fatigued, guys. Gonna let this one sit for a while unless people report problems.
- changed Windows to use XInput mouse handler instead of RawInput, hopefully this will fix some compatibility issues (This caused some changes in mouse sensitivity for some folks. Canceled. I wish everyone could have the same mouse driver)
- hopefully fixed the problem where sometimes you load the game and the hammer is inside an object.
- you’re much less likely to be kicked out of reward (had to do with an overinclusive ban list). It can still happen though if your IP is banned or the server is full or your firewall blocks it.
- if your computer can’t reach the reward server, get sent to a different game over screen
- no changes to graphics performance or physics, although a couple tweaks to save CPU.
- as always let me know if there are problems

1.575
- user loop321 pointed out I had accidentally deleted the ground by the house after the church. Fixed.

1.574
- made some changes to prevent the system from ever writing a corrupted save to disk. Hopefully this will help people who see an occasional issue where the game resets their progress.
- recolored a rock on the church (a fan request)

1.573
- made some further optimizations near the cart
- added some more safety colliders to prevent the hammer getting stuck
- fixed a typo
- setting voiceover volume to 0 now sets it all the way to 0
- if you finish more than once, the game over screen will show you how many times
- disabled ‘graphics jobs’ on the Unity side, hoping this will sort out a rare memory leak bug without impacting performance.
- added previous version 1.572 to a beta branch on steam in case you hate this one - you can access it using the usual password ‘nakedmaninapot’

1.572 - speculative fix update
- Rebuilt shader cache, perhaps this will fix hitches felt by some people on high end hardware
- Maybe found a fix for some people whose saves are not being saved to disk? I can’t reproduce this bug so the fix is a guess.
- removed 2 pixels of empty space under orange table, for people whose OCD was triggered by this. Yes this makes the jump 0.5% more difficult, fair warning.
- added previous version 1.571 to a beta branch on steam in case you hate this one - you can access it using password ‘nakedmaninapot’
- renamed 1.53 branch to make it clearer - if you were on 'test' just switch over

1.571
- People complained there was still way too much fog toward the end of the game. I agree, fixed.

1.57
- Oops, I accidentally had nuked a texture on a rock
- reduce fog amount on Windows

1.56
- Brought back ‘Rex the Rock’
- Minor visual improvements to player
- Minor optimizations here and there. Maybe I got rid of the stutter near the cart.

1.55:
- fixed a crash if you tried to reduce quality past ‘worst’.
- allow higher sensitivity for mouse controls, a popular request. It won’t make you jump any higher, and this version won't change your current setting.
- disable speedrun detection (it was designed to disable the VO for speedrunners. people kept complaining)
- added occlusion culling to the background, should improve performance a little in heavy areas
- added a couple of extra safety colliders
- fixed a rare bug where a player could get stuck in the air if they fell from the top of the mountain
- force ‘So Over It’ achievement to be set if you have more than 50 wins logged on steam
- improve performance on clouds a little
- fixed a bug that would occur if people would hit escape after falling in the water

If this build is bad for you in some way I didn’t foresee, you can roll back to 1.54 by clicking ‘betas’ and typing the password ‘nakedmaninapot’, choose the ‘1.54’ branch. 1.53 is on the ‘test’ branch.

still on my to-do list (these are hard and may take time)
- find a rare, mysterious bug reported by two players where the game leaks memory until it causes a crash after exactly 11 minutes
- add an ‘invert y’ mode for people using graphics tablets
- backport more performance improvements from mobile version

Is there a way to look how many times you reached the top?

I think that's a steam issue though, noticed full, broken counters in other games as well.

What did you do to the small rock near anvil?!
That rock was my favorite prop in the game, my sole companion, I even named it, Rex the Rock.
And now Rex is gone, forever

I know I could just roll back to the older version but I'm too lazy

Ah the rock! I'll bring it back

Thank's for turning off the speedrun detection, it seems it's still turned on if you already have game going on. It actually tilt's me more than falling tho - it's sad to kinda wish to fall so i can start over with voice turned on - i refuse to start over just for the sake of it even tho i am not that far..
bennett  [developer] Dec 19, 2017 @ 3:31pm
Yeah it won't change it for an existing game

REX IS BACK!

I'm very happy to have Rex back, thank you good sir!
Is there any way that you could track where players fall off of most? It'd be really cool to see where I need more improvement in climbing. If not, still love the game <3

Bennet, will you add more music and maybe and let us add our own ingame music to be played if we fall down far enough? i like that feature.
Thank you so much for bringing Rexie back to me, I am forever in your debt

Can you fix this washed out look that everyone has now? I miss the old natural colours, now the game has like a white fog overlay to it.
